- Tanzania program:pfd implements an integrated agricultural development, nutrition, and renewable resources program benefiting 37,550 small-holder farmers in several regions of tanzania. The jani project (swahili for green) works to diversify and increase the incomes of rural, small-holder farmers through the expansion and commercial utilization of jatropha curcas, commonly referred to as jatropha. Pfd programming has worked to improve productivity by training farmers on various cultivation methods for a renewable energy biofuel jatropha, as well as other methods for bio-intensive cultivation; conserve water by promoting and adapting to local conditions small scale hafirs(reservoirs) for water harvesting and conservation; reduce deforestation; and improve nutrition through training on diet diversification and food preservation as well as bio-intensive gardening requiring low labor inputs for people living with hiv/aids.

- Cambodia programs:since 1992, pfd has worked with communities on priority development issues. With its local partners, pfd has addressed poverty, malnutrition, and preventable diseases through integrated activities in health, safe drinking water and sanitation, and agricultural development. Pfd has implemented the reconstituting and training of over 200 village development committees (vdcs) enabling them to collaborate with their local governments to improve infrastructure for water supply and transport for agricultural production. It has also promoted the conservation of natural resources through water harvesting and producing renewable energy using a cement and brick biodigester that transforms manure into methane gas and improved agricultural productivity through livestock extension training for village animal health workers (including vaccination and breeding). Pfd has piloted three new rice varieties on farmers plots leading to increased rice production for the participating communities.
