Mission

Visit duluth is organized for the purpose of attracting the maximum number of visitor dollars into duluth's economy. Furthermore, visit duluth establishes new initiatives to increase tourism, visitors and conventions, and continuously works to further enhance the awareness of the industry.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Direct sales - visit duluth spearheads the city wide conventions, meetings and packaged travel sales initiatives. This professional effort requires significant investment, primarily in people costs, which are necessary in securing group business. Despite the challenges faced with our nation's economic downturn, visit duluth brought in 14 million of future year group business in 2010. The primary metric and barometer of visit duluth's success is the tourism tax. Following 19 consecutive years of growth to 2008, 2010 set a new record for the highest collections ever.
Activity 3
Online marketing - visit duluth's online and social media initiatives continue to be an increasingly successful tool in attracting visitors to our city. A wide variety of enhancements and additional concentration on social media, particularly with tall ships duluth 2010, were implemented during the year. With more and more visitors being attracted to visitduluth.com each year our experiences are in step with national trends. Our lodging members report nearly 90 percent of their online reservations come from visitduluth.com. There has been a steady increase on site useage over the year. Unique visitors up 48%. Number of visits up 35% and page views up 40% over 2009.
