Boulder Housing Coalition manages and owns the majority 99.99% interest in two co-operative housing properties that were reported on a Form 1065 partnership return from its inception in 2013 through 2019: North Haven Community Ownership LLC, EIN 46-2340639. The remaining .01% is owned by another exempt organization, BHP Ventures LLC. We were just informed that Form 1065 reporting is not called for when both partners are exempt organizations. Therefore this 2020 Form 990 incorporates for the first time the balance sheet and activity of Boulder Housing Coalition's 99.99% share of North Haven Community Ownership LLC.

By state statute, this provides a property tax exemption. North Haven Community Ownership LLC participates in the education programs described under activity 4b, Boulder Housing Coalition.

The majority of the 25 low income residents living in these properties earn below 30% of the area's median income. The houses were purchased with the help of affordable housing grants from the City of Boulder and the County of Boulder. All of the buildings are owned in partnership with Boulder Housing Partners. By state statute, this provides a property tax exemption. In addition, Boulder Housing Coalition has an education program that offers cooperative living skills, mediation skills, and social justice education. These programs reached 155 people in 2020.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Catalyst Public Utility Data Liberation (PUDL) Project: The decarbonization of the US electricity system is essential to protecting the natural environment, responsibly managing natural resources, and furthering the long-term health and safety of all communities. The PUDL project accelerates the transition away from fossil-fueled electricity systems by publicly providing high quality, actionable data. Since its 2019 release, the PUDL Python package has been downloaded nearly 10,000 times. PUDL has been used by academics, advocates, and energy data practitioners to help inform policy making around how to finance the early retirement of uneconomic coal plants and how to model the transition to a completely decarbonized electric grid. Boulder Housing Coalition served as fiscal sponsor for two 2019 grants totalling $165,000 that were applied to project costs in 2019 and 2020.
