“A draft of the 990 will be sent to the board prior to filing.”
“Our board secretary, david gleason, ensures that everyone receives board documents annually and sign off on them. Conflict of interest is also enquired about and discussed.”
“Compensation is determined on the budget based on a low-median range of salary for exec dir role in the fort collins geographic area. There is board discussion and approval vote monthly and hinges on whether there is sufficient money available to pay the executive director.”
“Documents are published on guidestar and on coloradogives (community foundation) website.”
“We have 4 primary sources of volunteer help: 1) volunteermatch: since 2015, we have connected with over 300 volunteers via volunteermatch. Volunteers are usually event-specific, for example, assistance at outreach events, fundraising galas and the monthly walk-in clinics. 2) larimer county internship program: since first participating in the program in 2015, we have hosted over 10 interns. 3) service organizations: these include the young men's service league who provide volunteers for parades and for special projects such as letter writing or toy collection, and the young marines who provide guidance for elderly or compromised veterans at events. 4) staff members: our staff members regularly volunteer for homeless veteran stand down events, yellow ribbon post deployments, parades, and other outreach events.”
“Healing warriors program exists to interrupt the factors that lead to veteran suicides. We were established in 2012 to help save veteran's lives. Some wounds aren't visible. Depression, traumatic brain injury (tbi), post traumatic stress (pts), sleep disorders, pain, and interpersonal trauma are among the leading causes that lead to veteran suicides. Conventional treatments using narcotic medications only adds to that likelihood. By using non-narcotic therapies that support relief from pain, improved sleep and focus, alleviation of anxiety and stress, the service member is able to find restoration for their quality of life, and able to strengthen their role in their communities and careers. Our mission to provide non-narcotic treatment to advance individual well-being for veterans and their families through evidence-based integrative care services is key for our service members and their families who need help with the burden of injury. In 2020, due to the covid pandemic, healing warriors program pivoted our model to provide telehealth clinic sessions. We did this by 1) purchasing a hipaa-compliant telehealth portal, and 2) mailing clinic supplies to veterans prior to their appointments so that the veteran and their provider could work together to relieve pain, calm anxiety and improve sleep. Since healing warriors program is categorized as a limited medical facility, we were only closed from march 18th to may 3rd, reopening our doors for in- person care on may 4th. We remained open throughout 2020. Healing warriors program has provided over 20,000 no cost and low cost non-opioid pain and trauma clinic sessions between our fort collins clinic and monthly pop up clinics in denver, longmont and colorado springs as well as active duty clinics on posts across colorado treating over 2,000 service members and their spouses, partners and parents. We provide 6 free treatment sessions, outreach, education, care packages for our senior members at risk, senior safety & wellness program, yellow ribbon campaign, participation in stand down events for the homeless veterans and more. Healing warriors program is a registered va vendor and a guidestar platinum star participant charity. Healing warriors has been the recipient of many prestigious awards from major donors, lending to the importance that healing warriors plays in veterans and their families lives. Perhaps our greatest honor has been to receive the newman's own 2018 award where healing warriors program was chosen as 1 of 5 veteran nonprofits across the nation to be honored at the pentagon and presented with the award by the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, general joseph dunford.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | HEALING WARRIORS PROGRAM EXISTS TO INTERRUPT THE FACTORS THAT LEAD TO VETERAN SUICIDES. PERHAPS OUR GREATEST HONOR HAS BEEN TO RECEIVE THE NEWMAN'S OWN 2018 AWARD WHERE HEALING WARRIORS PROGRAM WAS CHOSEN AS 1 OF 5 VETERAN NONPROFITS ACROSS THE NATION TO BE HONORED AT THE PENTAGON AND PRESENTED WITH THE AWARD BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF, GENERAL JOSEPH DUNFORD. |
