Jawonio, inc. Is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and the premiere provider of lifespan services in the hudson valley of new york state for individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health challenges, and chronic medical conditions. Jawonio, inc. Is dedicated to advancing the independence, well-being and equality of people with disabilities and special needs.

- VOCATIONAL AND REHABILITATION SERVICES - The Employment & Day Services Division of Jawonio strives to advance the independence, equality and well-being of people with differing abilities through employment, learning, and life skills program options. In Rockland and Westchester Counties, we continue to serve an incredibly wide range of individuals and provide a wide range of services. Day Habilitation Services are provided in both Rockland and Westchester counties. These programs are designed for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities and in the development of social skills, life skills, behaviors, and attitudes to enhance participation in the community. They develop independent skills that facilitate integration in the community through volunteering, community integration activities, classroom activities and learning options. Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services-Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Treatment (IPRT), Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS), Supported Education, Computer Lab, Pre-Employment Outreach, and Adult Home Supported Case Management programs all work together to provide services to persons with psychiatric disabilities within the psychiatric rehabilitation philosophy. IPRT is dedicated to teaching and linking up persons with a psychiatric disability to those skills and supports necessary to achieve life goals. Participants focus on setting, obtaining and maintaining an overall goal in the areas of working, living, learning and/or socialization. Pre-Employment Services reach out to individuals not quite ready to take the next step in recovery towards work, education or entrance into IPRT. Supported Education Services provides supports to assist individuals in negotiating and navigating the academic and technical school environments so as to facilitate success in the educational environment. Community Employment Services-In Rockland and Westchester, individuals with disabilities are provided the support services to find, get, and keep jobs in the Rockland & Westchester community and to provide employers with qualified, capable, and dedicated workers. Specialized services are available for individuals who are deaf. In Rockland, there is limited transportation service available. Vocational Rehabilitation Services-These services provide persons with disabilities with the therapeutic interventions and support services necessary to achieve their highest level of adjustment to the work environment. Services include Waiver Pre-Vocational Services (called Business Skills), Rehabilitation Counseling, Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation (DVE), and Sheltered Employment. We also offer deafness services, personal care, nursing and limited transportation services. Vocational Business Services-The work centers offer a work related alternative to individuals who are not ready or choose not to work in the community, but do not need or want an activity program. The work centers provide a valued work and day programming option. Digital Imaging (micrographics & scanning) is a records management digital imaging service providing archival process of microfilming or scanning paper records for corporations and government entities. We operate the unit to provide employment to people with disabilities with a goal to its becoming a self-sustaining social enterprise. Jawonio Cleaning Services-The "Cleaning Company" is a unit operated as a business to provide employment for persons with disabilities. The majority of the jobs and income are from preferred source contracts through the New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID). They are competitive contracts, which pay prevailing wages and benefits. They also oversee the facility cleaning of the Main Campus, TECH and Yonkers.

- EDUCATIONAL SERVICES - The Education Services Division of Jawonio, Inc, provides a wide array of children services to infants and preschool children, in additional to therapeutic services to children of all ages. The Early Intervention Program (EI) provides evaluation and treatment services to the 0-3 year children and their families through home and agency-based models in individual and group settings. Jawonio's programs have always been noted for their ability to treat medically and physically involved children. This is consistently seen in our ability to attract and enroll children in our enhanced class for the multiple needs population. The Jawonio Preschool is a special education program designed to meet the therapeutic, educational and social needs of each child and provides training in pre-kindergarten skills for children aged from 3 to 5 years. The Playing and Learning Together program is an integrated day care center for disabled and non-disabled children, ranging in age from 18 months through 5 years of age. Our program is committed to providing all children with a nurturing and stimulating environment that schedules instruction and age-appropriate activities modified to each child's needs. The program offers flexibility in hours to meet the needs of working parents. Facility based childcare Respite Services are provided to families through grants and state funding. Children are provided with recreational activities, under the direction of education staff. Services are provided after school, on Saturdays and during school year vacations. Specialized services are also provided for Autistic children. Facility based Occupational, Physical, & Speech Therapy Services, in additional to Psychology and Social Work Services, including evaluation and therapy are provided to children enrolled in both the Preschool and Early Intervention programs, as well as through a contractual agreement with the other providers. All services are provided by licensed therapists. Medicaid Service Coordination Services are provided by Service Coordinators who oversee all services provided for children and adults who have a developmental disability; have or are eligible for Medicaid; reside either independently or with their family; or in a family care or group home. Services and referrals include: residential placement, in-home or out-of-home day or overnight respite, medical and recreational services, educational supports, vocational services, psychological services, environmental and adaptive equipment needs and in-home assistance to teach and reinforce an individual's academic or other therapeutic needs.

| IRS990/Description | 0 | RESIDENTIAL SERVICES - The Community Living Services (Residential) Division of Jawonio, Inc., provides services to adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities, including severely physically disabled, medically frail and moderate to profoundly retarded range of functioning. The Community Living Services (Residential) philosophical goal is to assist each individual to reach and maintain the highest level of independence and self-satisfaction. Jawonio's Community Living Services Division also provides a continuum of residential programs, in-home, and respite services for the person with developmental disabilities. Intermediate Care Facilities (3) - These homes provide comprehensive medical, habilitative supports in a twenty-four hour supervised setting for 36 individuals. The program is developed to assist the person with severe/profound levels of retardation and severe medical frailties to become as independent as possible. Comprehensive on-site medical supervision is provided. Individualized Residential Alternatives (7) - Jawonio provides homes in the community specifically designed and furnished to meet the needs of the developmentally disabled adult. This program differs from the ICF residences in that the individuals require less medical oversight and care, and for the most part are able to go into the community for day and recreation programs. Twenty-four hour supervision and assistance is provided. Condominium / Living (7) - Supportive services developed specific to individual needs are provided in one and two bedroom condominiums in the community. Low cost housing is provided through the Office of Housing and Urban Development for five condominiums. The Paul J. Tendler Independent Living Center (17) - This garden apartment complex provides service and low cost housing to 18 people. All but one apartment is single occupancy, providing dignity and privacy to each individual. Consumer Driven Personal Care - This program allows individuals who are self directed and live in their own homes to receive personal care services funded through the Department of Social Services. The program allows the individual to hire, train, and when warranted, discharge his or her own personal care aides. The census in this program increased from 45 to 48 in 2008. In-Home Habilitative / Respite Services--This program provides in-home habilitative/respite services for children who are living with their families and adults who are living alone in the community. 25 individuals were served in 2008. Community Recreation Program - This program provides community based recreation for residential individuals, some activities including individuals from sister agency residential programs and provides supports necessary to enable individuals to have weekly recreational opportunities, to go on regular community trips, participate in seasonal group activities as well as structured learning groups. The "Wellness" Program, affords men and women living in the community the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that enhance their health and physical and social wellbeing. |
