Vocational and rehabilitation services - the employment and day services division of jawonio strives to advance the independence, equality and well-being of people with differing abilities through employment, learning, and life skills program options. In rockland and westchester counties, we continue to serve an incredibly wide range of individuals and provide an array of services. Day habilitation services are provided in both rockland and westchester counties. These services are designed for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities and focus on the acquisition of interpersonal and community integration skills. Individuals develop independent competencies that facilitate integration in the community through volunteering, community activities, classroom activities, and learning opportunities. Each unit operated by jawonio focuses on the unique needs of those being served, such as a seniors retirement group, high medical/physical needs, advocacy group focus, intellectually disabled and mental health/behavioral, transitioning from the educational system to adult day services. Staff has focused upon developing community readiness skills with a goal of transitioning into employment or employment internships. In 2012, 10% of the enrollees achieved part-time employment and/or employment internships. In 2012 community employment services - in rockland and westchester, these services supported more than 450 individuals with various disabilities to find, obtain, and succeed at maintaining jobs in the rockland & westchester communities and to provide employers with qualified, capable, and dedicated workers. Specialized services are available for individuals who are hearing impaired and deaf. Ongoing support services were provided to more than 260 individuals. In 2012 the job developers secured 121 job placements for individuals in this program. Vocational rehabilitation services - these services provide persons with disabilities with the therapeutic interventions and support services necessary to achieve their highest level of adjustment to the work environment. Services include waiver pre-vocational services, rehabilitation counseling, standardized assessments and sheltered employment. The work centers offer a work related alternative to individuals who are not ready or choose not to work in the community, but do not need or want an activity program. Vocational business services - document imaging, an affirmative business, is a records management digital imaging service that provides an archival process. Document imaging consists of document preparation, document scanning, indexing and the 100% quality assurance of paper records for corporations and government entities. Jawonio operates the unit to provide employment to people with disabilities with a goal to become a self-sustaining affirmative business. Jawonio cleaning services - the "cleaning company" is a unit operated as a social enterprise to provide employment for persons with disabilities. The majority of the jobs and income are from preferred source contracts through the new york state industries for the disabled (nosed), which are competitive contracts that pay prevailing wages and benefits. The cleaning company has contracts for more than 1 million square feet and employs more than 100 cleaning staff. In 2012 jawonio launched a new social enterprise, the jawonio clean by steam social enterprise, which is a mobile, eco-friendly, hand-steam cleaning process that services corporate fleets and personal cars. Contracts are held with rockland county para transit buses and bus shelters.

Activity 3

Educational services - the education services division of jawonio, inc., provides a wide array of children services to infants and preschool children, in additional to therapeutic services to children of all ages. The early intervention program (ei) provides evaluation and treatment services to the 0-3 year children and their families through home and agency-based models in individual and group settings. Jawonio's programs have always been noted for their ability to treat medically and physically involved children. This is consistently seen in our ability to attract and enroll children in our enhanced class for the multiple needs population. The jawonio preschool is a special education program designed to meet the therapeutic, educational and social needs of each child and provides training in pre-kindergarten skills for children aged from 3 to 5 years. Jawonio also offers integration opportunities with community children through participation in universal pre-k and our private pay preschool programs. Children use our child care for extended day hours before and after school hours. Children up to 12 can participate in saturday respite classes for the developmentally delayed or children on the autism spectrum. Vacation respite is also available during school recess. Jsac (jawonio school after-care) is an after school program for children 6- 11 with developmental disabilities and/or autism. Support is given in education, social interaction and creative play. Summer education program for school aged children ages 6 - 21 provides approved summer classes for children identified by their districts as at risk for regression. It is made up of several formal iep driven classes in a recreational, camp-like setting.
