Mission and Program Overview

Mission

AiA is a nonprofit that provides diverse visual arts curriculum, materials, and training. Our lessons develop critical thinking and creativity through hands-on-learning. Founded 35-years- ago, AiA provides lessons that teach students about S.T.E.A.M, cultural understanding, social justice, healing through art, art appreciation and technique. AiA empowers students to develop creativity, critical thinking, and complex problem solving, through hands-on learning with art. In addition to the aforementioned skills, hands-on learning through arts education has been shown to positively affect student content knowledge, create high levels of engagement, and improve skills in collaboration. AiA ignites children's imaginations to become innovators, creators, and leaders preparing them for the jobs of tomorrow. Last year we impacted over 85,000 students, trained 2,700 teachers in over 600 schools in 30 states. Over 51% of the children we serve are from under-resources schools. Since our inception

IRS990/Desc0Art in Action brings culturally diverse programs to schools and after-school centers through a sequential and integrated curriculum aligned with Common Core Standards. In addition to curriculum, our award-winning programs provide online and on-site training, staffing services, ongoing customer support, and art materials. We inspire design thinking and creativity while providing engaging arts experiences where students learn art history, appreciation, and skills. Over 35 years, over half million students have participated in our national non-profit Art in Action program. We provided 100+ lessons annually in more than 500 schools and organizations throughout the US, making us a leader in visual and digital arts education. This year, we: -Trained teachers and parent volunteers who taught lessons -Delivered art materials with the help of volunteers. Additionally, Art in Action engaged employees from companies as well as volunteer organizations to pack tons of art materials delivered to our schools.

IRS990/MissionDesc0AiA is a nonprofit that provides diverse visual arts curriculum, materials, and training. Our lessons develop critical thinking and creativity through hands-on-learning. Founded 35-years- ago, AiA provides lessons that teach students about S.T.E.A.M, cultural understanding, social justice, healing through art, art appreciation and technique. AiA empowers students to develop creativity, critical thinking, and complex problem solving, through hands-on learning with art. In addition to the aforementioned skills, hands-on learning through arts education has been shown to positively affect student content knowledge, create high levels of engagement, and improve skills in collaboration. AiA ignites children's imaginations to become innovators, creators, and leaders preparing them for the jobs of tomorrow. Last year we impacted over 85,000 students, trained 2,700 teachers in over 600 schools in 30 states. Over 51% of the children we serve are from under-resources schools. Since our inception
