IRS990ScheduleF/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0PARTICIPANTS MAY REQUEST FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COVER A PORTION OF THEIR TRAVEL EXPENSES TO ATTEND OUR TRAININGS. THEY MAKE THEIR REQUEST IN ADVANCE OF THE TRAINING, DESCRIBING THE MEANS OF TRAVEL, TOTAL COSTS, AND THE AMOUNT THAT THEY ARE REQUESTING TREC TO COVER. TREC REVIEWS THE REQUESTS TO MAKE SURE ALL EXPENSES ARE REASONABLE AND DETERMINES WHICH EXPENSES ARE COVERED BASED ON NEED. ALL REIMBURSEMENTS ARE MADE AFTER THE TRAINING ONCE PARTICIPANTS HAVE TURNED IN RECEIPTS DOCUMENTING THE EXPENSES. NO INDIVIDUAL GRANTS WERE OVER 5,000; NONE ARE REPORTED IN PART II OR PART III.

IRS990ScheduleF/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2TREC DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR ITS BELOW-COST TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE BY RECIPIENT ORGANIZATION. IN 2013, TREC PROVIDED IN-DEPTH TRAINING AND CONSULTING TO MORE THAN 80 ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS IN NORTH AMERICA. IN ADDITION, RECORDED TUTORIALS, RESEARCH REPORTS, AND OTHER RESOURCES WERE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. IN SOME INSTANCES, WE FOCUS INTENSIVELY ON A HANDFUL OF SELECTED ENVIRONMENTAL CHARITIES, USUALLY FOR A PERIOD OF ONE TO THREE YEARS, DEPENDING ON THEIR STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEVERAGE TREC'S SKILLS FOR THE STRENGTH OF THE SECTOR. IN 2013, EIGHT ORGANIZATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE U.S., ALL IN CANADA, RECEIVED SUCH ASSISTANCE AT A SIGNIFICANT LEVEL WHICH WOULD EXCEED 5,000 IN COST IF TREC WERE ACCOUNTING FOR IT IN THAT MANNER. ALL EIGHT ORGANIZATIONS WERE IN THE NORTH AMERICA REGION, AND ALL OF THEM WERE THE EQUIVALENT OF U.S. PUBLIC CHARITIES. SEE ALSO CORE FORM, PART III, LINE 4.
