Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Trec's mission is to catalyze the habitat conservation and wilderness protection community in western north america to promote sustainable environmental integrity and diversity. We carry out our mission through coaching, consulting, and training services focused on leadership development, capacity-building, and leveraging resources to organizations dedicated to habitat conservation and wilderness protection.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Leadership program: our year-long strategic leadership development program addresses the challenges and needs facing non-profit leaders in western north america. Participants gained skills for managing staff and leading teams, as well as fiscal management, strategic planning, and personnel management. Over the 12 months, 20 participants received approximately 18 days of in-person intensive training. Each participant also receives a 360-degree review and one-on-one executive coaching throughout the process. In 2010, trec also conducted a stepping up to leadership training for new leaders from 21 organizations as well as a reunion of leadership program graduates.
Activity 3
Fundraising assistance program: the fundraising assistance program helped organizations to raise money while they diversify and stabilize their fundraising base. Past participants have reported substantial increases in revenue, membership, and major donors after completing the series. More than 25 training sessions were held in 2010 for 10 organizations. These web-based training sessions are supplemented with extensive individual consultation and coaching and hands-on homework assignments. This precedent-setting combination has allowed participants to learn crucial skills, network with their peers, and apply new information to their organizations immediately.
