The Baum Foundation contributes its time and resources to nurture artistic talent, to provide youth with educational opportunities through art and the environment, and to support the conservation and preservation of the planet's biodiversity.

Two of the Board members are related by marriage.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

Form 990 is prepared by an outside tax professional. The form is then reviewed by the organization's management, all members of the board of directors, and the executive director. This group of individuals then discusses the contents of the return with the outside tax professional. After a full review (with modifications where necessary), the final version of the tax return is provided to all members of the organization's voting body. A representative of management authorizes the final form 990 which is then e-filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Members of the board of directors review all potential conflicts of interest atleast annually. The executive director and all board members are required to disclose (in writing) potential conflicts and any related party affiliations. Loans between the organization and members of management and the board are strictly prohibited. The organization seeks full transparency on all relationships. Any potential conflicts (in fact or appearance) are discussed openly and resolved in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

Members of the board of directors review the compensation of all high-level personnel annually in accordance with irs rules and regulations. During 2014, the organization only utilized the services of outside professionals. Other program services 4: fish count $22,476the fish count program conducted preliminary research to return to the channel islands in california with marine appliied research & exploration for the purposes of conducitng a baseline review of marine life using deepwater robotic technology in a marine protected area that was first established in 2003. Other program services 5: bella gaia $11,325bella gaia is a multimedia presentation created to expand understanding of how obervations of earth from space can show environmental changes over the last 50 years and how our actions affect living earth systems. The presentation was shared with audiences worldwide featuring crucial scientific data about our imperiled eco-systems using large-scale nasa images of earth through film and photographic content. Other program services 6: bella gaia: unep $15,074the baum critcal ecosystems earth environment program researched earths most critical biodiversity hotspots to share stories about the convergence of these critical areas for conservation in 60 countries. The stoires focus on the millions of people who live in these regions and are hihgly dependent on healthy ecosystems which contain more biodvesrity than anywhere else. Other program services 7: general programs and otherduring the year ending december 31, 2014, the baum foundation provided grants and funds for a variety of programs. These grants totaled $49,979 and included monies earmarked for specfic projects for sponsoring organizations that directly correspond to the mission and goals of the baum foundation.
