Two of the Board members are related by marriage.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

Form 990 is prepared by an outside tax professional. The form is then reviewed by the organization's management, all members of the board of directors, and the executive director. This group of individuals then discusses the contents of the return with the outside tax professional. After a full review, the final version of the tax return is provided to all members of the organization's voting body. A representative of management authorizes the final form 990 which is then e-filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Members of the board of directors review all potential conflicts of interest atleast annually. The executive director and all board members are required to disclose (in writing) potential conflicts and any related party affiliations. Loans between the organization and members of management and the board are strictly prohibited. The organization seeks full transparency on all relationships. Any potential conflicts (in fact or appearance) are discussed openly and resolved in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

Members of the board of directors review the compensation of all high-level personnel annually in accordance with irs rules and regulations. During 2014, the organization only utilized the services of outside professionals. Every effort is made to ensure that the process is thorough and transparent in accordance with irs guidelines and the organization's policies and procedures.

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Ocean Learning Center Contributions (Learning & Exchange)Programs for the arts, education and the environment improved support and engagement with resilient communities and partner institutions to help strengthen their ability to provide education and a response to climate change and that they could not otherwise achieve through other means. Support for learning, exchange and implementation of solutions promotes youth leadership who are faced with solving complex environmental issues as they strive to build a sustainable livelihood that improves the quality of life for all. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: First Nations Roots and Relations First nations roots and relations is creating a comprehensive interdisciplinary series of exhibits about canoe culture with programs that engage the public in critical environmental questions around work in habitat and wetland restoration that can lead to abundance and deeper engagement in the history, culture, and indigenous practices. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Mission Blue Mission Blue increased the number of special places called Hope Spots that are critical to the health of the ocean and that still need defined protection. Under Dr. Earles leadership the Mission Blue team embarked on a series of expeditions to shed light on these vital ecosystems to safeguard them as marine protected areas. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Seamount Exploration Expedition Research continued on the underwater volcanoes named seamount that featured the impacts of deep-sea mining in these sensitive and unprotected geological marine life Ares. Research results were shared via peer reviewed science and on a public blog to help determine the role of conservation around seamounts. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Other Program Activities During the year, The Baum Foundation provided grants and funds for programs that advance program work for recognition of photographers, research on human migration since the upper Paleolithic period, conservation of marine protected areas and identification of plastic in the ocean in pristine environments. Grants included monies earmarked for specific projects for sponsoring organizations that directly correspond to the mission and goals of The Baum Foundation.

All film and collateral assets were completed featuring the vast work he did over his lifetime now featured in a teaser film. Green Forests project involved planting of up to 20 habitat species to get back a full forest including the American chestnut tree which has the potential to be blight-resistant.

Support for learning, exchange and implementation of solutions promotes youth leadership who are faced with solving complex environmental issues as they strive to build a sustainable livelihood that improves the quality of life for all. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: First Nations Roots and Relations First nations roots and relations is creating a comprehensive interdisciplinary series of exhibits about canoe culture with programs that engage the public in critical environmental questions around work in habitat and wetland restoration that can lead to abundance and deeper engagement in the history, culture, and indigenous practices. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Mission Blue Mission Blue increased the number of special places called Hope Spots that are critical to the health of the ocean and that still need defined protection. Under Dr. Earles leadership the Mission Blue team embarked on a series of expeditions to shed light on these vital ecosystems to safeguard them as marine protected areas. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Seamount Exploration Expedition Research continued on the underwater volcanoes named seamount that featured the impacts of deep-sea mining in these sensitive and unprotected geological marine life Ares. Research results were shared via peer reviewed science and on a public blog to help determine the role of conservation around seamounts. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Other Program Activities During the year, The Baum Foundation provided grants and funds for programs that advance program work for recognition of photographers, research on human migration since the upper Paleolithic period, conservation of marine protected areas and identification of plastic in the ocean in pristine environments. Grants included monies earmarked for specific projects for sponsoring organizations that directly correspond to the mission and goals of The Baum Foundation.
