Part II, Line 5: Summarized Policy

All easements have to have Stewardship monitoring plan written and approved prior to the close of an easement and upon closing the transaction a specific amount of money calculated based on various criteria is deposited into Stewardship Fund, of which investment earnings are used to pay for easement monitoring and any easement defense costs

Part II, Line 9: Organization Reporting of conservation easements.

Organization's balance sheet shows the value of the land at cost; direct expenses are included in program expenses.footnote in financial statements: the corporation holds parcels of land which were both purchased with contributed funds and received as contributions. The parcels' total value is $2,000,000. The corporation held 26 conservation easements located in california and oregon comprising 82,302 acres at the end of 2014. IRS990/Desc0Forest Conservation and Stewardship The Pacific Forest Trust serves as grantee, monitoring and providing stewardship services on a portfolio of 26 conservation easements over 82,302 acres in California and Oregon. PFT owns and manages 897 forested acres along the border of Yosemite National Park, as well as 600 acres of mixed evergreen forestland on the Outlet Creek Ranch in northern California. These lands are conserved and were all monitored in 2014, as they are annually, to ensure compliance with conservation easement terms and management goals for water, wildlife, and climate values. In 2014, PFT worked with its landowner, government agency and local community conservation partners toward conserving an additional 55,963 acres overall in California and Oregon. This includes the Goose Lake conservation easement described below that was acquired at year end; as well as three other ecologically rich properties totaling 23,277 acres in key watersheds of the Klamath-Cascade region on which PFT has options to acquire conservation easements. The organization was awarded or approved for nearly $12 million in funding this year toward these efforts. To celebrate Yosemite National Park s 150th Anniversary, PFT donated the historic OConnor Ranch to the park in July, adding an additional 80 acres to Yosemite's area. Overlooking the south fork of the Wild and Scenic Merced River, with several springs and creeks that drain into a key watershed, OConnor Ranch provides habitat for a variety of species, including the Pacific fisher, goshawk, and Coopers hawk.In December, PFT was granted a conservation easement by the owners of the Collins Goose Lake Working Forest. This is a first-of-its kind joint forest restoration and conservation project in Modoc County, California. A $2.5 million grant from the Wildlife Conservation Board provided the lead funding to restore 20,806 acres of forest habitat devastated by fire. To guide the long-term habitat restoration project, Collins Timber Company LLC generously granted a conservation easement to the Pacific Forest Trust over the entire 32,686-acre Modoc tract, including an estimated 10,000 acres of flourishing forest and meadow habitats, at the headwaters of the Pit River and Klamath River drainages.PFT continues to work with a diverse group of stakeholders on the Klamath-Cascade Advisory Council, as well as conduct field trips and public outreach, and educate key stakeholders about the importance of conserving the working forests in the Klamath-Cascade region. The forests are central to the ecological health of this critical watershed that provides drinking water for 25 million Californians. The Council meeting in 2014 focused on What makes a resilient forest? Featured speakers included Dr. Malcolm North, Research Plant Ecologist with the USFS Pacific Southwest Research Station, and Associate Professor of Forest Ecology, John Muir Institute at Davis University; Dr. Carolyn Hunsaker, Research Ecologist with the USFS Pacific Southwest Research Station in Fresno.PFT cooperated with Roseburg Resources, the landowner, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, to enhance 80 acres of seasonally wet meadow in the Bear Creek watershed near Mt. Shasta to promote climate adaptation opportunities for wildlife as part of a grant awarded to PFT by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) for 2013-2014. The grant supports PFTs collaboration with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) toward Creating a Connected Conservation Network for Climate Adaptation. This generous grant also supported the presentation of two public workshops: One was on Climate Change and Wildlife Adaptation in the Klamath-Cascade conducted in partnership with the California Natural Resources Agency in Sacramento. We reached more than 50 key stakeholders including members of the state Board of Forestry, personnel from the California Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire), CDFW, USDA Forest Service, the Wildlife Conservation

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0CONSTITUENCY BUILDING and General ProgramThe Pacific Forest Trust builds awareness of the vital contributions that privately owned and productive U.S. forests make to the public good: wood, water, wildlife, and a healthy climate. PFTs Constituency Building program raises the profile of these benefits in addition to generating support for the organization's initiatives and programs through events, publications, online communications, and targeted outreach to key stakeholders. In 2014, as part of the 2013/14 WCS grant, PFT completed a set of user-friendly guides and conducted the final two workshops in a series of educational workshops for landowners, agencies, and the public focused on practical ways to help wildlife adapt to climate change. PFT offered its expertise to the media and was covered or quoted in twenty-six stories on forests and climate, forest conservation, and policy improvements to state and federal forest conservation and climate programs. Examples include: A USA Today interview with Forest Fete honoree, Chuck Leavell; E&E, McClatchy papers, and various outlets on expanding Yosemite National Park, a feature and editorial from the Redding Record Searchlight on the Mt. Shasta Headwaters conservation project, and a feature in Saving Land on developing forest carbon projects to mitigate climate change. Along with ForestLIFE and the 2013/20th Anniversary Annual Report, PFT expanded its roster of publications with the introduction of LEAFLET, a concise update focusing on science, stewardship forestry, on-the-ground restoration and enhancement projects, and policy. PFT engaged more than 6,000 readers in print, and thousands more with the online versions of these publications. This years editions featured forest facts, expert interviews, landowner profiles, and project storieseducating readers about forested watersheds, biocarbon, and forest policies. We also developed and produced an illustrated brief, Healthy Watersheds California, to educate key decision makers on the value of protecting water at our source watersheds.PFT developed workshops and presentations for universities, conferences, agencies and organizations, and the public. A new addition is the Forestside Chat series, where PFTs leaders delve deeper into subjects like forest carbon in a webinar format. Of particular note: Laurie Wayburn presented Biocarbon Strategies: Lessons from California at the Northwest Biocarbon Summit, Connie Best spoke at the national ACES Conference panel discussion on forest carbon offsets, and Board Chair Andrea Tuttle served as PFT representative at the meeting of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Lima. Continuing the previous years effort of engaging broader audiences around the splendor of forests, PFT exhibited the winning shots from the Forest Inspiration photo contest at the Seed Gallery throughout March and April. PFT held events that brought diverse industries and stakeholders together, including a tour of the van Eck forest followed by a talk at Humboldt State University with renowned scientists Jerry Franklin and Steve Sillett on managing forests for old growth characteristics. This years Forest Fete brought landowners together with legislators, forestry experts, students, scientists, educators, and philanthropists. Special guest and honoree was Chuck Leavell, forest owner, founder of the Mother Nature Network, and keyboardist for the Rolling Stones.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Policy Initiatives The Pacific Forest Trust provides technical advice to policymakers, advocates for incentive-based policy initiatives and leads diverse stakeholder groups in support of the conservation and stewardship of working forests and ranchlands. In 2014, PFT worked with the Air Resources Board and other state agencies to update the state implementation plan for the Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32) in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% below 2020 levels by 2050. The resulting plan articulates a strong vision for using forests to help combat global warming. It also calls for ongoing planning and investment in Californias forests and other natural and working lands to help address climate change and protect other ecosystem values.PFT was intimately involved in the development of an investment plan for the revenue generated by the AB 32 cap and trade program, which led to the investment of $80 million in natural resource enhancement and conservation for climate benefits.. We also worked closely with the state in the development of a State Climate Research plan, largely focused on informing future actions and investments in forests and other natural lands.PFT initiated an effort in 2014 to develop a new source of public benefit funding for the conservation and restoration of key watersheds, seeking to apply the concession financing approach often applied to develop major transportation infrastructure projects in a green infrastructure context. The Pacific Forest Trust also continued our efforts in Washington DC to streamline and add flexibility to the US Forest Services Forest Legacy Program to make it easier to leverage federal and state funding for working forest conservation.
