Activity 2

In central asia, sgi supports the training and deployment of 98 indigenous personnel who work to serve both the humanitarian and spiritual needs of their neighbors throughout the region. In addition, sgi provides financial and professional accountability for these personnel. Administrative activities include continued logistical operation development, extension of administrative systems, program promotion and development of public relations material, resource development, and funding of outreach teams.

Activity 3

Nashville, tennessee, is home to thousands of refugees and immigrants from the middle east and africa. Sgi provides a variety of services and assistance to these families, with particular attention given towards iraqi and somali bantu families who are newly arrived in the united states with the help of 70 volunteers, two full-time and two part-time employees, sgi is able to provide translation services, job placement, medical help, food, car repairs, ell classes, urban gardening, after school tutoring, clothing sales, soccer clubs, and cultural activities to numerous refugees. The number of unique refugees helped in 2012 is 150. Nashville staff hosted 15 iraqi nationals for a 10-day international education conference in nashville and orlando,fl. Approximately 30 volunteers helped organize and run the conference. The session topics included producing graduates for the 21st century, nationality and higher education, principles and ideals, nation building, freedom and prosperity as the fruit of education and college admission standards.
