FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Servant group interational (sgi) is a non-profit christian agency serving among at-risk and refugee communities in need. Sgi accomplishes its organizational purpose through outreach, education, and discipleship both locally and abroad. Developing programs to train christians how to meet and befriend their refugee neighbors has been emphasized over the last several years. Sgi serves in tennessee among the population of refugees and immigrants from the middle east and africa by helping to locate housing, schools, health care, jobs and provide english language training. Sgi maintains and supports ministry among the kurds in northern iraq through training and deploying staff to teach at the (3) school of the medes campuses. In response to the ongoing unrest throughout the middle east and central asia, millions of people have fled their homes, ending up as refugees and/or idps. Sgi has worked to establish and help support a number of relief programs throughout n. Iraq, greece, and turkey.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

In iraq, sgi offers education and community development projects in the northern part of the country. Primary activities include teaching and implementation of a christian k-12 curriculum used to serve approximately 2500 students enrolled in (3) schools known as the school of the medes. Staff also serve families in their local neighborhoods through after-school programs, church activities and training programs. There is also an ongoing jail ministry to prisoners administered by our national partner. In response to the isis conflict in n. Iraq, sgi has continued to support a number of relief programs including business entrepreneurial endeavors, job training, medical, food, shelter and clothing assistance for displaced families.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Nashville, tn is home to thousands of refugees and immigrants from the middle east and africa. Sgi is able to provide translation services, citizenship instruction, job placement, medical help, food and other benevolence, ell classes and tutoring, urban gardening, and various cultural activities to numerous refugees. Training and equipping american volunteers to reach out to their refugee neighbors is a primary task of local staff members. With the help of 203 volunteers and 11 employees, sgi was able to grow our scope of services and provide assistance to a growing number of refugees. The number of unique refugees helped was approximately 653. Nashville-based outreach programs include the summer "feed and read" at a large refugee apartment complex and the winter "lunch and laughter"--- a refugee-hosted lunch engagement. "walk and talk" happens 6 times each year and coordinates walks in a park for american women and their refugee friends. A large fall festival, "fall(afel) fest", continued in order to highlight sgi program services.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

In response to the continuing isis conflict in n. Iraq and unrest throughout the region, millions of people have fled their homes. Sgi maintained several projects in greece, with the help of national partners, to support refugees needing food, clothing, and medical assistance. We provided oversight and guidance to 14 team members serving approximately 75 in refugee apartments, along with offering translation services for several ongoing relief efforts. In turkey, we helped to support christian refugee communities and partially funded a christian conference for refugees. In africa, we assisted several indigenous workers in caring for minority church members and their families.
