Servant group international (sgi) is a non-profit christian agency working to serve among muslim peoples through both word and deed unto the end of cultural and generational transformation. Sgi accomplishes their organizational purpose through outreach, education, and discipleship both locally and abroad. They serve in tennessee among the population of refugees and immigrants from the middle east and africa by helping to locate housing, schools, health care, jobs and provide english language training. Sgi maintains and supports ministry among the kurds in northern iraq through christian schools and development of curriculum for the school of the medes. In response to the isis conflict in n.iraq, sgi has worked to establish and help support a number of relief programs throughout n.iraq.

“Nashville, tn, is home to thousands of refugees and immigrants from the middle east and africa. Sgi is able to provide translation services, citizenship instruction, job placement, medical help, food and other benevolence, english language learning classes and tutoring, urban gardening, and sewing instruction to numerous refugees. Training and equipping american volunteers to reach out to their refugee neighbors is a primary task of local staff members. With the help of 115 volunteers and 11 employees, sgi was able to grow our scope of services and provide assistance to approximately 300 unique refugees. Nashville-based outreach programs during covid included distributing over 6,000 pounds of produce throughout the refugee community; helping numerous unemployed refugee families with rent/utilities/toiletries; helping secure jobs for 13 sewing graduates; and hosting several summer camps for teens (sewing and rubik's cube).”

SGI SERVES IN TENNESSEE AMONG THE POPULATION OF REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA BY HELPING TO LOCATE HOUSING, SCHOOLS, HEALTH CARE, AND JOBS AND BY PROVIDING ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND SEWING TRAINING. SGI MAINTAINS AND SUPPORTS MINISTRY AMONG THE KURDS IN NORTHERN IRAQ THROUGH TRAINING AND DEPLOYING STAFF TO TEACH AT THE THREE SCHOOLS OF THE MEDES CAMPUSES. IN RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING UNREST THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND CENTRAL ASIA, MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE FLED THEIR HOMES, ENDING UP AS REFUGEES AND/OR IDPS. SGI HAS WORKED TO ESTABLISH AND HELP SUPPORT A NUMBER OF RELIEF PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT N. IRAQ, AUSTRIA, TURKEY, AND AFRICA. |

NASHVILLE-BASED OUTREACH PROGRAMS DURING COVID INCLUDED DISTRIBUTING OVER 6,000 POUNDS OF PRODUCE THROUGHOUT THE REFUGEE COMMUNITY; HELPING NUMEROUS UNEMPLOYED REFUGEE FAMILIES WITH RENT/UTILITIES/TOILETRIES; HELPING SECURE JOBS FOR 13 SEWING GRADUATES; AND HOSTING SEVERAL SUMMER CAMPS FOR TEENS (SEWING AND RUBIK'S CUBE). |
