Sgi is able to provide translation services, citizenship instruction, job placement, medical help, food and other benevolence, english language learning classes and tutoring, urban gardening, and sewing instruction to numerous refugees. Nashville-based outreach programs include distributing several thousand pounds of produce throughout the refugee community; helping unemployed refugee families with rent/utilities/toiletries; helping secure jobs for sewing graduates; and growing kani book club for the local kurdish community.”
“In february 2023 a series of major earthquakes devastated eastern turkey. In the ensuing months, sgi raised nearly 90k in funds to help with relief efforts. These funds were primarily used to build about 200 temporary shelters for displaced survivors. Each shelter could accommodate a family of 3-6 persons, and several of our nashville team members participated on the construction crews that built these shelters.”
