Part iii line 28: in 2015 hattheatre taught approximately 230 students a combination of performing arts and public speaking classes. This includes a school year (sept.-april) 27-week program, summer camp/workshops june-august, and classes for adults that run continuously all year in 6 week blocks. This year we also provided a class off-site to students at the local montessori school and provided an enrichment workshop to over 100 girl scouts. 1 student in our youth classes was on 100% scholarship, 1 student received a discount of 50% off tuition, 1 received a $75 discount. Instead of offering scholarships for our summer program, we provided 1/2 price deals all summer through living social, of which over 3/4 of our students came from that promotion. 2 students in the adult classes through the year attended for free. Our student base includes those who fall on the autism spectrum as well as those diagnosed with adhd and other learning disabilities. Our goal is to mainstream all populations. Our free one-act weekend served approximately 66, our end year performance served approximately 350. Every summer workshop week ends with a free performance for family and friends of the students. Total audience over the summer is approximately 450-500. The youth troupe performances, one in the fall and one in the spring, served the community with 6 shows attended by approximately 396. This year one show was a public service awareness musical about bullying and its effects on our youth. Our adult series this year produced 3 shows (12 performances) and served approximately 792 audience members. The whale was honored to have one of its actors nominated for best supporting actor by the richmond theatre critics circle. Community service days were held several times this year. School children in this area need community service hours for school. We were able to bring these kids into the theatre where they could gain those hours with our non-profit. We also had an all-night sleep-over service night. We partnered with 5th wall theatre again for two shows so they had a venue to perform in. West end comedy improv troupe used our space until march then took a break. They resumed performances in june. We applied for a handicapped accessibility and comfort grant and received money to widen our door to comply with ada requirements, get new carpet so walkers and canes do not get hung up, and new padded chairs with lumbar support. A new series called scaled down sundays was created in partnership with another theatre, theatrelab, to do a fundraiser for the theatre artist fund which helps those in the arts who have suffered a terrible financial hardship. We raised $300 for this organization through the community foundation.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0PART III LINE 28: IN 2015 HATTHEATRE TAUGHT APPROXIMATELY 230 STUDENTS A COMBINATION OF PERFORMING ARTS AND PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASSES. THIS INCLUDES A SCHOOL YEAR (SEPT.-APRIL) 27-WEEK PROGRAM, SUMMER CAMP/WORKSHOPS JUNE-AUGUST, AND CLASSES FOR ADULTS THAT RUN CONTINUOUSLY ALL YEAR IN 6 WEEK BLOCKS.
