“In 2022 hattheatre taught approx. 200 students, youth, teen and adult. Our class sizes were full to maximum all year. We went back to full production schedule with 4 shows and one adult class showcase. Our youth resident company was able to perform two family friendly shows. Our summer camps were also full, though we offered 4 instead of 6 this year. All performances at the end of the camps are offered free of charge.this was also the year we take teen and adult students to ny for 4 days. The trip is taken every 3 years and is an educational trip. We had 42 go this year. They took classes all day on the friday we were there and they saw two shows. We provided breakfast for all on the trip and subsidized some of the costs due to rising prices for everything (the bus, the hotel, shows and classes all were higher than our last trip in 2019). So to keep the price of the trip affordable, we helped to pay the difference on what came in and what went out. We also had the unfortunate happen with our bank account. Someone committed fraud and the bank did not catch it until it had been withdrawn. Thankfully, after they did an investigation, all money was returned to us.our student base includes those who fall on the autism spectrum as well as those diagnosed with adhd and other learning disabilities. We currently have one student in a motorized wheelchair (he has been with us for several years), and one with muscular dystrophy. Our goal is to mainstream all populations. We serve all of the greater rva area with students coming from most every surrounding county. We also added a student who drives in from williamsburg.”
