PART X, LINE 2:

The university has been recognized as a tax-exempt organization by the internal revenue service as described in section 501(c)(3) of the irc and, therefore, is exempt from income taxes on related income under section 501(a) of the irc. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the university's tax-exempt purpose is subject to taxation as unrelated business income. In addition, the university qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(l)(a) and has been classified as an organization other than a private foundation under section 509(a)(1). The university recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if those positions are more likely than not of being sustained. Recognized income tax positions are measured at the largest amount that is greater than 50% likely of being realized. Changes in recognition or measurement are reflected in the period in which the change in judgment occurs. During the years ended june 30, 2025 and 2024, the university did not record any amounts related to uncertain tax positions or any accrued interest and penalties. The university's tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities.
