“Despite the limitations from Covid, our organization continued to creatively make an impact on the environment and vulnerable children. In 2021, at Crayon Collection, our most significant accomplishment, was partnering with The Getty Museum in Los Angeles for their summer virtual art making program. The program was provided for free to over 30,000 students in public Title 1 schools across the country. We also provided recycled crayons via U.S. mail to students that didn't have any of their own. As part of the program, we facilitated zooms with professional artists to teach our art curriculum using recycled crayons as the main tool. We added two additional artists to our roster and updated curriculum to include the benefits of social emotional learning to support the children during this very difficult and strenuous time. We also relaunched our crayon recycling program with restaurants and schools internationally as the world started to loosen covid restrictions. We were able to secure and donate 150,000 crayons on national crayon day, March 31, 2021. Due to Covid, to support the most vulnerable unhoused child population we supported outdoor learning classrooms that were being held in motels in Los Angeles by providing crayons and other school supplies with our art education curriculum. We set a World Record with our partners at Gish to deliver notes of kindness to frontline heroes as part of our color kindness program. Over 5,000 notes of kindness were written with recycled crayons and documented through social medial. In addition, our environmental efforts continued to flourish via our Habits of Waste programs and campaigns. Our #CutOutCutlery campaign, successfully convinced all four major food delivery applications, including GrubHub, UberEats, PostMates and DoorDash to change their default settings so that cutlery was only provided upon request. This was a significant win, and PostMates reported that in under a year they were able to save 122 million packs of cutlery, which equates to a $3.2MM savings for restaurants, from entering the waste stream. This was critical information to help pass legislation in the states of Washington and California making single-use food service items available by request only. In addition, over 25 cites across the country have signed on to make cutlery by request only ordinances. Our #8Meals campaign inspired by a study stating that decreasing our animal protein intake by 40% can make a significant difference in the fight against climate change, encouraging individuals to swap 8 meals a week for plant-based meals as doing so for a year is the equivalent of driving a hybrid car in carbon offset has taken off and has been featured just weeks before COP26 at TedxGlasgow as an idea worth spreading and throughout the year at the World Economic Forum highlighting Habits of Waste as a nutrition disruptor. We provided the app for companies to start using as a mechanism to start tracking their employees carbon offset. In July we introduced, #Ship Naked a campaign to convince online retailers to ship packages in their original packaging without excess materials. Over 5,000 emails have been sent to Amazon, Walmart, and Target, and we are in talks with these companies to discuss ways to reduce unnecessary packaging. Buzzfeed and other outlets reported on this campaign to help spread the mission and our PSA has received 500,000 views. And finally, we launched Lights, Camera, Plastic? to convince Hollywood to remove single-use plastic from screens and replace with reusable alternatives instead. The goal is to de-normalize single use plastic on screen, (much like the no-smoking ban on-screen) which scientists believe is a key piece to the fight to end the plastic pollution crisis. We created and provided tools for all Hollywood productions to help implement the change, such as watermarks for scripts, posters for set with QR codes and emails from top level executives and Hollywood change makers to cast and”
“The mission of Crayon Collection is to use the collection and reallocation of gently used crayons to inspire a commitment to environmental consciousness and infuse art education into underfunded schools. Our model is simple but powerful: we ask restaurants and hotels that offer free crayons to children when they dine, along with community-based groups, to collect gently used crayons and then we redistribute them to the most vulnerable schools across the U.S. Given that teachers spend an average of $900 out-of-pocket for basic supplies, our repurposed crayons meet a crucial need for both classroom supplies and art resources and help redirect millions of crayons from landfills. Through the simple act of saving a crayon, we seek to create a new "eco-normal" consciousness that inspires families, children, and communities everywhere to be stewards of the environment and nearby communities in need. We take the crayons one step further by challenging professional artists to offer us deep thinking project ideas using the crayon as the main tool. Next, our volunteer educators create lesson plans using these projects so that teachers in underserved classrooms nationwide can download and teach these art projects that have lined up with the stem curriculum as well as Social Emotional Learning standards. While in 2021, our traditional program was hindered due to COVID-19, we continue to be committed to ensuring all children have access to crayons and an education that includes art. We have further expanded our environmental efforts after spearheading the plastic straw and cutlery ban in the City of Malibu so that we can continue creating new systems within society to teach and advocate for environmental consciousness. Through our HoW program, we continue to find solutions to shift societal norms to protect our planet. We are working with more cities to ban all types of single-use plastics, educate individuals about their tap water so that they can make an informed decisions to consider drinking tap water instead of assuming they need to purchase single-use plastic water bottles. We also developed an app to help people take action and change their habits by decreasing their animal protein intake and get informed about simple actions that individuals and corporations can take that collectively make a huge impact.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | HoW (habitsofwaste.org)- this program focuses on changing habitual behaviors of the masses that are negatively impacting the environment. In many cases, that means changing systems like we did with #CutOutCutlery which convinced the four major food delivery apps GrubHub, UberEats, PostMates and DoorDash to change their default setting to provide plastic cutlery only upon request. PostMates reported that in under a year they were able to save 122 million packs of cutlery, which equates to a $3.2MM savings for restaurants, from entering the waste stream. This was critical information to help pass legislation in the states of Washington and California making single-use food service items available by request only. In addition, over 25 cities across the country have signed on to make (con Sch O) cutlery by request only ordinances. We create educational campaigns informing the public of the challenges, with simple achievable actions that they can take to make an impact. Our focus is on solutions and empowering the individual to take action. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, small changes can make a big impact when done collectively in society. HoW creates changes in society increasing eco-consciousness with a call to action on plastic straws, cutlery, bags, palm oil, food waste, energy, media, water, and air pollution and promoting a plant-based diet. HoW shines light on habitual behaviors of waste and offers ways individuals can take action to make the difference needed for the planet to survive. In 2021 we introduced our latest campaigns Ship Naked to reduce the amount of unnecessary excess packaging is shipped and Lights, Camera, Plastic? (LCP) to remove single-use plastic from the screen (TV and Film) and replace with reusables to establish a new norm. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | Arts in Education Program- Crayon Collection seeks to re-infuse art education in schools around the nation. We do this by investing significant resources in our Arts in Education program, which is a two-fold program supporting the artist inspired education series and the artist rotation initiative. Our Arts in Education program is designed to supplement the free crayons we donate to Head Start Centers, Title 1 Elementary schools and after school programs and ensure access to free, standards-based, best in class art education resources for our classroom partners. Working together with teachers we now have 16 artist inspired projects on our roster and each project meets or exceeds common core standards as well as social emotional learning. This year we expanded our reach by partnering (con Sch O) with The Getty to bring the art education to over 30,000 kids. We added two additional artists to our roster and updated curriculum to include the benefits of social emotional learning to support the children during this very difficult and strenuous time. The artist inspired education series engages local artists in developing instructional strategies that are uniquely designed for children working with our reallocated crayons, while complying with national and state standards for the visual arts. These resources take crayons to another level beyond simple coloring; in fact, our artists design and develop interesting projects utilizing these gently used crayons to support learning, creative expression, and intellectual development. This artistic mentoring process adds a deeper level to art education using a valuable and relatable resource, crayons, that would otherwise have been thrown away. We have a formal partnership with the Region 9 Head Start Association, which has given us access to their classrooms so that we could teach our program to their students as well as their teachers supporting us by applying new artist project ideas to early learning head start standards. The artist rotation initiative engages highly qualified U.S. based artists and cultural ambassadors from a variety of backgrounds to visit our classrooms and offer children access to a diverse range of art expression. Prior to Covid-19, our volunteer artists rotate classrooms every few months. This initiative allows for artists to volunteer their time in a meaningful and measurable way that connects students with professional artists where they would otherwise have no art education due to lack of public funding. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc | 0 | Crayon Recycling Program - the crayon recycling program provides a sustainable environmental solution to restaurants and hotels that offer free crayons to children when they dine. Instead of throwing these crayons away after each meal, often after a single use, we establish a collection process for each location and ensure these gently used crayons are donated to a local school in need of supplies. We pair the schools with the restaurants. Under this model, Crayon Collection acts as the liaison between impoverished schools and a local restaurant collection partner; we train restaurants, hotels, and community partners on how to collect gently used crayons. We then identify and partner with schools in need. From there, we connect restaurants and businesses to their local in-need schools. We then monitor (con Sch O) the process and ensure the gently used crayons are appropriately reallocated on a monthly basis. The process is highly localized and yet supported nationally by Crayon Collection in order to create sustainable community relationships between our collection partners and the schools we pair them with, which are Head Start centers & Title 1 elementary schools. To date our impact has been significant: over 20 million crayons were redirected from landfill and donated to school partners since our inception, and we have served over 2 million children as crayon recipients. Again in 2021, with the pandemic our model had to shift. As the year continued restaurants that had collected crayons gave them to us to distribute to other organizations that served children as schools had closed. Additionally, groups around the country started crayon drives and we were able to donate those crayons throughout the year city to city as guidelines evolved and school was in session in most cities. Since 2009 (founder Sheila Morovati operated the program on her own before Crayon Collection was officially formed as a non-profit organization in 2013), we have achieved the following:.1) Redirected over 22 million crayons from landfill and donated to school partners since our inception.2) Served over 2 million children as crayon recipients. 3) Over 2,500 Title 1 elementary schools have been connected with a restaurant collection site nationwide.4) Over 11,000 Head Start Centers have received crayons. Due to the pandemic the program halted temporarily as remote learning continued and there was a delay in organizations accepted gently used materials, however we were still able to formally establish a partnership with Region 9 Head Start, a district that serves 4 states and support over 200 agencies and 130,000 children in 2020 and in 2021 we started discussions with the Midwest region for extension in 2022. 5.) Set a Guinness World Record by donating 1,009,500 crayons to 700 LAUSD teachers in an effort to raise awareness. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc | 0 | Color Kindness Program- while our partnerships with national restaurant and hotel chains offer tremendous impact and scale, allowing us to save millions of crayons from landfills each year, we also believe in a grass-roots collection model that engages families, children, and communities in environmentalism as well as philanthropy and empathy. The elegance of the Crayon Collection model lies in its simplicity as anyone can begin a collection through their local school, library, neighborhood girl scouts/boy scouts club, or faith community and ensure these lightly loved crayons reach the hands of teachers and students in their local school district. In 2021 we continued the process of collecting crayons and had tremendous support from churches, youth groups and other organizations looking to support others (con sch O) during the pandemic. We had corporations collect crayons to get involved in getting back and distributing to local schools in need. We set a World Record with our partners at Gish to deliver notes of kindness to frontline heroes as part of our color kindness program. Over 5,000 notes of kindness were written with recycled crayons and documented through social medial. Information below pertains to all programs described in Part III, lines 4(a)-(c) as well as the above program described in Schedule OProgrammatic structuresIn order to encourage grass-roots crayon recycling programs, particularly among families and children, we invest significant resources in social and digital media strategy and outreach, in order to facilitate viral publicity amongst our supporters. Some of our notable campaigns have included National Crayon Day, National Crayon Collection Month (every august), a National back-to-school campaign, our National Art Education program that is accessible to everyone for free. Plus, under the HOW program we have the now widely recognized #CutOutCutlery campaign that convinced major food delivery apps to change their default setting to provide plastic cutlery only upon request. In 2021 we were able to increase our HOW programs with 8 Meals, Ship Naked, and LCP. Our community-based programs are focused on inspiring communities everywhere to do their part an effort to protect the environment and support a local school in need, by providing crayon and art education resources plus lessons in environmental stewardship. Ambassador volunteers Our ambassador volunteer ranks bring together volunteers, partners, and community-based organizations to support Crayon Collection programming nationwide. The ambassadors were cultivated out of a desire to create a network of passionate individuals that will serve as a presence for Crayon Collection in their community, tasked with supporting our mission by spreading the word about our work, helping to expand Crayon Collection programs in their communities. Many companies have reached out to us throughout 2021 to find opportunities to bring their employees together to volunteer for our cause. Many packed crayons and wrote notes of kindness to both children in need of school supplies as well as frontline heroes in hospitals. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | Despite the limitations from Covid, our organization continued to creatively make an impact on the environment and vulnerable children. We created and provided tools for all Hollywood productions to help implement the change, such as watermarks for scripts, posters for set with QR codes and emails from top level executives and Hollywood change makers to cast and |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | The mission of Crayon Collection is to use the collection and reallocation of gently used crayons to inspire a commitment to environmental consciousness and infuse art education into underfunded schools. We also developed an app to help people take action and change their habits by decreasing their animal protein intake and get informed about simple actions that individuals and corporations can take that collectively make a huge impact. |
