Centro Svila is a treatment program devoted to the recovery and healing of individuals, families, and communities suffering from emotional and psychological distress. Our comprehensive model of care works to decrease health disparities in Bernalillo County by providing: outpatient mental health services, case management, Free Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance for Medicaid and the NM Health Insurance Exchange, school-based restorative justice programs, food security support, drug and alcohol counseling and recovery support, and supervision, training and research opportunities for students and health professionals. Our treatment approach is based on the key principles of public health prevention, community building, and collaboration. Our staff and network of volunteers provide culturally competent care that enhances the natural resiliency of our clients. “OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Therapeutic Garden, Training for Professional Pipeline, Research: During FY 2013, The Svila Collaborative extended the scope of our therapeutic garden project by increasing the land used and the number of clients served while partnering with other groups in the South Valley to expand our Food Security program; Creating a Master Plan for expansion and maintenance of the Therapeutic Garden and participated in collaborative efforts to address the needs of patients with co-existing Serious Mental Illness and Chronic Disease.The Svila Collaborative focuses on decreasing the mental healthcare provider shortage in New Mexico by providing community-based training and internship opportunities for students working towards degrees in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology and Psychiatry. During FY 2013, The Svila Collaborative: Provided free clinical supervision to 3 masters degree student interns, 1 doctoral student conducting practicum placement, and 2 undergraduate UNM Service Corps volunteers that want to go into health professions; became a National Health Service Corps site to recruit and retain students; provided over 40 hours of school and community information and outreach and school lectures to students interested in or studying mental health related fields; Participated in 5 professional association presentations; and participated in several collaboratives and coalitions aimed at decreasing health disparities in Bernalillo County. The Svila Collaborative conducts research surrounding healthcare interventions, access and outcomes. During FY 2013, The Svila Collaborative: Became a formal partner with the UNM Psychology Departments Diversity Clinic; Participated in talks with New Mexico Health Insurance delivery systems to improve client outcomes, developed a new curriculum for peer support group for adolescents diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Participated in City, County, State, and National efforts to decrease health disparities; Attended the National Network to End Disparities in Mental Health training in New Mexico; applied for support to improve data tracking on interventions and outcomes.”

| IRS990/MissionDesc | 0 | Centro Svila is a treatment program devoted to the recovery and healing of individuals, families, and communities suffering from emotional and psychological distress. Our comprehensive model of care works to decrease health disparities in Bernalillo County by providing: outpatient mental health services, case management, Free Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance for Medicaid and the NM Health Insurance Exchange, school-based restorative justice programs, food security support, drug and alcohol counseling and recovery support, and supervision, training and research opportunities for students and health professionals. Our treatment approach is based on the key principles of public health prevention, community building, and collaboration. Centro Svila hired a team of 7 bilingual outreach and enrollment specialist who enrolled over 500 people in Medicaid and over 300 in private health insurance. The enrollment team also participated in outreach efforts to inform the public about health insurance options and eligibility. Our bicultural/bilingual team was able to reach out to Latino/Hispanic and Spanish speaking New Mexicans who are the largest uninsured population in NM. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Therapeutic Garden, Training for Professional Pipeline, Research: During FY 2013, The Svila Collaborative extended the scope of our therapeutic garden project by increasing the land used and the number of clients served while partnering with other groups in the South Valley to expand our Food Security program; Creating a Master Plan for expansion and maintenance of the Therapeutic Garden and participated in collaborative efforts to address the needs of patients with co-existing Serious Mental Illness and Chronic Disease.The Svila Collaborative focuses on decreasing the mental healthcare provider shortage in New Mexico by providing community-based training and internship opportunities for students working towards degrees in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology and Psychiatry. During FY 2013, The Svila Collaborative: Provided free clinical supervision to 3 masters degree student interns, 1 doctoral student conducting practicum placement, and 2 undergraduate UNM Service Corps volunteers that want to go into health professions; became a National Health Service Corps site to recruit and retain students; provided over 40 hours of school and community information and outreach and school lectures to students interested in or studying mental health related fields; Participated in 5 professional association presentations; and participated in several collaboratives and coalitions aimed at decreasing health disparities in Bernalillo County. The Svila Collaborative conducts research surrounding healthcare interventions, access and outcomes. During FY 2013, The Svila Collaborative: Became a formal partner with the UNM Psychology Departments Diversity Clinic; Participated in talks with New Mexico Health Insurance delivery systems to improve client outcomes, developed a new curriculum for peer support group for adolescents diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Participated in City, County, State, and National efforts to decrease health disparities; Attended the National Network to End Disparities in Mental Health training in New Mexico; applied for support to improve data tracking on interventions and outcomes. |
