Advocacy/education/community outreach specific activities in 2011: -worked with allies and volunteers to communicate the importance of public transit in a challenging budget environment. -organized and participated in two press conferences and a governor's listening session. -organized/sponsored guest presentation about transit in saint louis, missouri.-collaborated with partner organizations to develop a presentation and written materials about transit and transportation in minnesota. Presented to numerous groups.-staff members served on the metropolitan council's transportation advisory board and its land use advisory committee. -served on the minnesota department of transportation's complete streets advisory committee advising mndot on the implementation of complete streets in minnesota.-maintained a web site and disseminated written and e-information on public transit, bicycling, walking, and transit oriented development. -submitted written comments and reports including: go minnesota vision for state transportation plan, letter of support on interchange transit hub.-increased our member network by approximately 4,000 supporters and trained dozens of member leaders in telling their story about why public transit matters in their lives.-provided outreach support at a number of events including the living green expo and the state fair eco-experience. -tlc staff and members partnered with some of our transit allies and helped collect 14,000 postcard petitions against cuts to funding for public transit. Participated in a transit day at the capitol.-during the 2011 legislative session, turned out dozens of members to transportation committee hearings to testify in opposition to cuts to transit.
