Community housing network's (chn) mission is to strengthen communities by connecting people to housing resources. This is accomplished by providing affordable housing, administering supportive housing, being a leading provider of homeless prevention and rapid re-housing resources, and offering other housing programs including housing counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling and financial counseling. Through these programs chn serves people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, people with disabilities, people with low incomes, and other vulnerable people in southeast michigan.

THE EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT PROGRAM ASSISTED 628 INDIVIDUALS WITH LIMITED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR HOUSING AND/OR CASE MANAGEMENT. THIS INCLUDED 199 SINGLE ADULTS AS WELL AS 122 FAMILY UNITS WITH A TOTAL OF 148 ADULTS AND 281 CHILDREN. IN ADDITION, WE SERVED 53 HOUSEHOLDS WITH RAPID REHOUSING, PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES TO PREVENT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES FROM BECOMING HOMELESS AND HELP THOSE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO BE QUICKLY RE-HOUSED.TEN IN-OFFICE PRELIMINARY AND VOUCHER BRIEFINGS WERE FACILITATED WITH ASSIGNED MSHDA HOUSING AGENTS AS PART OF A NEW SYSTEM TO EXPEDITE THE VOUCHER PROCESSING FOR THOSE PULLED FOR MSHDA HOMELESS PREFERENCE VOUCHERS. THIS ALLOWED FOR A HIGHER SUCCESS RATE FOR POTENTIAL PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS TO ACTUALLY LEASE UP IN UNITS AND SUSTAIN HOUSING. DEVELOPMENT:THE 2013 ANNUAL EVENT, BRING IT HOME, RAISED $120,119.57. $19,400 OF THE FUNDS RAISED THAT EVENING CAME THROUGH THE LIVE AUCTION TO BENEFIT THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY GIFT PROGRAM, ADOPT A FAMILY. A TOTAL OF 706 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WERE SUPPORTED THROUGH THE 2013 HOLIDAY SEASON ANNUAL ADOPT A FAMILY PROGRAM WITH DONATIONS TOTALING $78,054.61 IN CASH AND GOODS. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES TOTALED 6,355 HOURS OF SERVICE, WHICH INCLUDES THE TIME CONTRIBUTED BY FOUR AMERICORPS MEMBERS, TOTAL VALUE OF THE VOLUNTEER SERVICES IS $127,545. HOUSING DEVELOPMENT:A $8.47 MILLION HOUSING TAX CREDIT RESERVATION WAS SECURED THROUGH THE MICHIGAN STATE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO CONSTRUCT 32 SCATTERED-SITE, SINGLE FAMILY LEASE TO PURCHASE HOMES IN UNITY PARK, PONTIAC.CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED ON THE 24-UNIT PALMER POINTE TOWNHOMES IN PONTIAC. THERE WERE MORE THAN 600 APPLICATIONS FOR THE MIXED-INCOME DEVELOPMENT, WHICH WAS FULLY LEASED UPON COMPLETION. THE LIBERTY HILL III DEVELOPMENT WAS COMPLETED OFFERING 12 UNITS IN FOUR BARRIER-FREE HOMES, ONE EACH IN VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, NORTHVILLE, GARDEN CITY AND LIVONIA.
