“The Organization follows the provisions of FASB ASC 740, "Accounting for Uncertainty of Income Taxes," which clarifies the accounting for uncertainty of income taxes. In accordance with FASB ASC 740, a tax position is recognized as a benefit only if it is more than 50% likely that it would be upheld in a tax examination. The Organization's policy is to recognize interest and penalties related to uncertain tax provisions as interest and income tax expense, respectively. As of December 31, 2019 and 2018, the Organization had no uncertain tax positions and no amounts accrued for interest or penalties. The Institute is exempt from federal income taxes on income related to its exempt purpose under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6). The Institute also has certain activities that are reported as unrelated business activity. Those activities are offset against related expenses and therefore did not result in any income tax.”
