“Boulder mountain clayworks offers clay art instruction for adults and children, both residents of and visitors to the wood river valley. We provide a creative atmosphere and facilities where clay artists can develop their vision, and we bring projects to and collaborate with other local non-profits to foster arts education among their constituencies. In 2021 we had 50 full-time and 15 part-time members who pursue their own projects, collaborate with others, and generally work side-by-side in the studio and provide know-how, inspiration, and assistance to other members in the process. We provide them with a huge range of large and small equipment, supplies, tools, workspaces, and materials with which to create their very messy clay art. Among the resources we provide, boulder mountain clayworks houses and operates the only cone 10 kiln in the wood river valley, which fires at the heat required to produce the highest quality, impermeable stoneware. In 2021, boulder mountain clayworks' summer programs served 100 children in our 7 youth clay camps, 75 middle and high school students in our 5 teen throwing camps, but our guest artist workshops were canceled due to covid 19. In addition to this, 65 individuals participated in our one-day or family workshops. During the school year, we taught adult wheel-throwing classes for 50 students, 34 sculpture and handbuilding classes for a total of 40 adults, and had 85 students in children's clay classes. Our studio also opens its doors to children and adults for birthday parties or other clay experience events. In 2021, we were able to slowly reintroduce some of our non profit partnerships. We brought projects to some of the underserved communities in bellevue, hailey and carey through the bloom program.we had the sage school come and participate in "bowl making" for the empty bowl fundraiser for the hunger coalition, which has been postponed to january 2023. Higher ground brought in a group of veterans for a bowl making class. Boulder mountain clayworks, its members, and volunteers directly touch the lives of more than 450 people in the wood river valley, and, by ripple effect we touch the lives of many more.”
