“The organization's objectives are to encourage artistic growth and development in the community by 1. Offering instruction in clay and other media to adults and children. 2. Providing a creative atmosphere where clay artists can develop their vision. 3. Scheduling events that are free and open to the public where the community can better appreciate the clay arts.”

“Boulder mountain clayworks summer programs served 85 children in our 7 youth clay camps, 40 middle and high school students in our teen throwing camps, and 20 adults in our guest artist workshops. In addition to this, 31 individuals participated in our one-day or family workshops. During the school year, we taught adult 4 wheel-throwing classes for 40 students, 4 figurative sculpture classes for 15 adults, and had 18 students in childrens clay classes. Our studio also opens its doors to children and adults for birthday parties or other clay experience events. In 2017 we served 400 people in this way. We have 33 full-time and 20 part-time members who pursue their own projects, collaborate with others, and generally work side-by-side in the studio and provide know-how, inspiration, and assistance to other members in the process. We brought clay projects to or served the following non-profits in our studio: ketchum parks and recreation, the local ymca, sage school, community school, wood river high school, carey high school, big wood pre- school, and syringa school. 35 volunteers from our studio brought a clay project to camp rainbow gold where approximately 160 children, cancer survivors and their siblings, made dragons. Studio members brought all the clay, glazes, and tools for this project and spent 3 eight-hour days working with the campers. We returned to the studio to dry, overglaze, and fire these pieces that we then return to the campers at the end of the week to take home. We brought the same project to the children served by the hunger coalitions free lunch truck three separate times during the summer. Our annual empty bowls fundraiser was a huge success. Studio members and other volunteers made over 350 soup bowl that were sold at the empty bowls luncheon, raising over 7200. 100% of these funds go to the hunger coalition of the wood river valley to help feed the less fortunate in blaine county. We hosted 15 empty bowl-making parties, free and open to the public, with 150 participants. We donated the instruction, clay, glaze, firing and facilities required to make the bowls in order to bring the community together for a wonderful cause. In addition, our studio manager and volunteers help organize and staff the actual event. Boulder mountain clayworks, its members, and volunteers directly touch the lives of more than 750 people in the wood river valley, and, by ripple effect we touch the lives of many more.”
