“Boulder mountain clayworks offers clay art instruction for adults and children for both residents of and visitors to the wood river valley. We provide a creative atmosphere and facilities where clay artists can develop their vision, and bring projects to and collaborate with other local non- profits to foster arts education among their constituencies. In 2018, we had 33 full-time and 30 part-time members who pursue their own projects, collaborate with others, and generally work side-by side in the studio and provide know-how, inspiration, and assistance to other members in the process. We provide them with a huge range of large and small equipment, supplies, tools, workspaces, and materials with which to create their very messy clay art. Among the resouces we provide, boulder mountain clayworks houses and operate the only cone 10 kiln in the wood river valley, which fires at the heat required to produce the highest quality, and impermeable stoneware. In 2018, boulder mountain clayworks' summer programs served 65 children in our 7 youth clay camps, 38 middle and high school students in our teen throwing camps, and 39 adults in our guest artist workshops. In addition to this, 74 individuals participated in our one-day or family workshops. During the school year, we taught adult 4 wheel-throwing classes for 44 students, 2 sculpture classes, and 1 handbuilding class for a total of 27 adults. We had 16 students in the children's clay classes. Our studio also opens its doors to children and adult birthday parties or other clay experience events. In 2018, we served 400 people in this way. We brought clay projects to the following non-profits: ketchum parks and recreation, the local ymca, sage school, community school, wood river high school, carey high school, stanley school, big wood pre-school, and syringa school. 40 children with special needs from higher ground attended class at the studio. In addition, 15 volunteers from our studio brought clay projects to camp rainbow gold where approximately 160 children (who are cancer survivors with their siblings)made dragons. Studio members brought all the clay, glazes, and tools for this project and spent 3 eight-hour days working with the campers. We returned to the studio to dry, overglaze, and fire these pieces. We returned to the camp with the completed projects for the campers to take home. We brought the same project to the children served by the hunger coalition's free lunch truck three separate times during the summer. Our annual empty bowls fundraiser was a huge success. Studio members and other volunteers made over 350 soup bowls that were sold at the empty bowl luncheon, which raised over 7200. These funds benefited the hunger coalition of the wood river valley to help feed the less forunate in blaine county. We hosted 15 "empty bowl" making parties which were free and open to the public. 150 people participated. We donated the instruction, clay, glaze, firing, and facilities required to make the bowls in order to bring the community together for a wonderful cause. In addition, our studio manager and volunteers help organize and staff the actual event. Boulder mountain clayworks, its members, and volunteers directly touch the lives of more than 750 people in the wood river valley, and by ripple effect we touch the lives of many more.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 4 | BOULDER MOUNTAIN CLAYWORKS OFFERS CLAY ART INSTRUCTION FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN FOR BOTH RESIDENTS OF AND VISITORS TO THE WOOD RIVER VALLEY. BOULDER MOUNTAIN CLAYWORKS, ITS MEMBERS, AND VOLUNTEERS DIRECTLY TOUCH THE LIVES OF MORE THAN 750 PEOPLE IN THE WOOD RIVER VALLEY, AND BY RIPPLE EFFECT WE TOUCH THE LIVES OF MANY MORE. |
