Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Basic center program (bcp) is to provide emergency shelter, food, counseling and aftercare services to runaway, homeless and street youth between the ages of 10 through 17 to ultimately reunite the family and help them achieve economic stability. Bci bcp focuses on preventing runaway and homeless episodes by utilizing a strengths and resilience base approach. A strengths and resilience base approach has a simple premise-identify what is going well, do more of it, and build on it. Strengths are positive factors, both in the youth, and in the environment, which support healthy development. Resilience is the ability to help a youth bounce back, to recover from adverse life experiences.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0BCI EMPOWERS FAMILIES IN EAST CLEVELAND BY ASSISTING HOMELESS AND RUNAWAY YOUTH. OUR GOAL IS TO STRENGTHEN FAMILIES. YOUTH CAN ACCESS SERVICES AS RESIDENTS OR NONRESIDENTS. BCI HAS 12 EMERGENCY SHELTER BEDS AVAILABLE 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, FOR RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH. A YOUTH IS ALLOWED TO STAY IN THE PROGRAM FOR 21 DAYS, OR SOMETIMES LONGER, DEPENDING ON THE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES. ONCE A YOUTH ENTERS THE PROGRAM, BCI IMMEDIATELY WORKS WITH THE PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN TO PREVENT ANY FUTURE EPISODES OF RUNNING AWAY OR HOMELESSNESS. BCI OPERATES IN THREE SHIFTS: 7 AM-3 PM, 3 PM-11 PM, AND 11 PM-7 AM.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0BASIC CENTER PROGRAM (BCP) IS TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY SHELTER, FOOD, COUNSELING AND AFTERCARE SERVICES TO RUNAWAY, HOMELESS AND STREET YOUTH BETWEEN THE AGES OF 10 THROUGH 17 TO ULTIMATELY REUNITE THE FAMILY AND HELP THEM ACHIEVE ECONOMIC STABILITY.
