Profile

iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Students work with their mentors one-on-one, in-person, and online to develop strong personal relationships, nurture a college aspiration, navigate the college application process, and build critical skills that lead to college success. iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective programs in the iMentor model. Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Imentor is a not-for-profit organization that partners with public high schools in low income communities, where a majority of students served will be first-generation college graduates. Imentor believes in the transformative power of mentorship as a force for good. Imentor connects mentors, mentees, and partners to harness their guidance and experience, build lasting relationships, and transform lives. Imentor's impact uplifts entire communities and strengthens our social fabric, one school at a time.

Imentor strives to build mentoring relationships that empower first-generation students from historically marginalized communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Imentor partners with high schools in which a majority of students will be first-generation college students, and matches student within the schools with a college-educated mentor who commits to supporting the student for two years in high school and two years in a post-secondary setting with lessons engaged on the imentor platform. The imentor platform supports, texting, messaging, lesson access, writing, sharing and review between mentor, mentee and the imentor administrator.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Kimberly hatchett & karen pavlin are sisters.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Management reviewed a draft of the form 990 with the audit/finance committee and provided edits to the tax preparer. After this process was performed, the form 990 was sent to the full board of directors prior to being filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The organization has a board approved conflicts of interest policy. Each board member must fill out an annual declaration stating they had no conflicts or identifying the nature of their interested party transactions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The imentor personnel committee annually evaluates the ceo on their performance and asks for their input on matters of performance and compensation. The personnel committee, with assistance from the chief talent & equity officer ("cteo"), chief operating officer ("coo") and the ceo gather current salaries, comparable salaries from like organizations (similar in mission, size, budget, and geographical location) for like position (with similar professional qualifications and job duties), and salary history for the ceo and other highly compensated or key employees under evaluation. The cteo and coo meet with the personnel committee to discuss any questions and provide additional information and research as needed to support the evaluation. The imentor personnel committee obtains and evaluates research and information to make a recommendation to the full board for the compensation (salary, benefits, any discretionary or performance-based bonus, and any other compensation or benefit) of the ceo (and other highly compensated employees or key employees) based on a review of comparability data. For example, the personnel committee will secure data that documents compensation levels and benefits for similarly qualified individuals in comparable positions at similar organizations. This data may include the following: 1. Salary and benefit compensation studies by independent sources; 2. Actual written job offers for positions at similar organizations competing for the ceo's services; 3. Documented telephone calls and email communications about similar positions at both nonprofit and for-profit organizations; and 4. Information obtained from the irs form 990 filings of similar organizations. The personnel committee makes its recommendation to the board in an executive session. The personnel committee then informs the cteo and coo of the board's compensation decision, which the cteo and coo communicates to the ceo. Any performance-based bonus awarded to the ceo is granted at the discretion of the board and subject to this policy. Salaries are finalized in conjunction with the performance evaluations
