OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Field-building: HIP works to hold the field of Health Impact Assessment accountable to its values by fiscally sponsoring and participating in the Society of Practitioners of Health Impact Assessment and working to institutionalize the practice of HIA. We also are building the field at the intersection of criminal justice and public health through staffing the National Criminal Justice and Public Health Alliance (NCJPHA) and its workgroups, and hosting two convenings of people working at this intersection. Advocacy: HIP amplifies the use of public-health research, expertise, framing, and communications to support targeted campaigns and movements. In 2016 based on our research, we spoke at several press conferences and public hearings; produced videos, fact sheets, and infographics to bring a health lens to policy debates, and organized other health professionals to make public statements.

In 2016, HIP provided training and/or technical assistance to over 16 community organizations, government agencies, and coalitions across the country to build their capacity to advance equity and conduct Health Impact Assessments and related projects. We developed resources for HIA practitioners and local health departments to advance equity and to work in criminal justice reform.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Field-building: HIP works to hold the field of Health Impact Assessment accountable to its values by fiscally sponsoring and participating in the Society of Practitioners of Health Impact Assessment and working to institutionalize the practice of HIA. We also are building the field at the intersection of criminal justice and public health through staffing the National Criminal Justice and Public Health Alliance (NCJPHA) and its workgroups, and hosting two convenings of people working at this intersection. Advocacy: HIP amplifies the use of public-health research, expertise, framing, and communications to support targeted campaigns and movements. In 2016 based on our research, we spoke at several press conferences and public hearings; produced videos, fact sheets, and infographics to bring a health lens to policy debates, and organized other health professionals to make public statements.
