Mission

The purpose of this corporation is to provide resources and services for the basic needs of life to those in need, including, but not limited to clothing, food, utility assistance, and counseling through a cooperative effort of people and organizations in the community.

The Community Bread Basket is a cooperative outreach ministry of the churches, other supportive organizations, businesses and individuals in the Weirton, WV area to assure basic needs of life for people/families.

IRS990/Desc0The Community Bread Basket provides a food pantry to individuals and families of the community every Friday. Volunteers and members of local congregations operate the food pantry under the direction of the program administrator. We have dedicated volunteers who faithfully fill and distribute food orders. The food pantry is stocked through the support of our churches, local businesses and community donations. Bulk supplies are purchased and donated from the USDA Mountaineer Food Bank. 5,979 recipients were assisted during 2023 in addition to several low-income housing facilites and another food assistance organization.

Staff and volunteers help select the necessary items essential for the childs well being. The Gabriel room receives contributed baby items from donors which include baby food, diapers, blankets, clothing for boys and girls ages 0-7, clothing accessories, stuffed animals, toys, and baby equipment. 5 families and another family assistance organization were assisted during 2023.
