Preservation services - nedcc offers consultation and training to help institutions preserve collections as a whole through collections care and preservation planning. The department conducts general preservation assessments that include a site visit followed by a report. Preservation assessment reports offer practical recommendations for improving environmental and storage conditions and provide the foundation for writing a long-term preservation plan. A preservation assessment can help ensure that limited funds are allocated according to carefully identified priorities, increasing the longevity of an institution's collections. Nedcc also provides detailed condition assessments of specific collections of objects. Nedcc's preservation services department presents educational programs in the u.s. And abroad, answers technical inquiries, maintains nedcc's website and provides free 24-hour disaster assistance.conservation services- nedcc conservators' expertise includes conservation of books, documents, maps, photographs, parchment, architectural plans, wallpaper, and works of art on paper, including drawings and paintings in all media, prints, collage, and contemporary works. Conservators treat works with unusual formats such as globes and other composite objects with paper components. Treatment options range from basic stabilization to complete restoration.

Activity 3

Education & outreach - nedcc's preservation services staff and conservators offer a variety of workshops and other presentations each year to help cultural institutions preserve their valuable collections. From preservation planning, to collections care, to digitization, nedcc's educational programs provide training for professionals seeking to learn the basics as well as those who want to be kept up to date on the latest trends.
