Each year, the board members are asked to review the organization's conflict of interest policy. Among other things, the policy makes clear that all decisions of the board, officers, and employees of the organization are made solely on the basis of a desire to promote the best interest of the organization and the public good. The conflict of interest statement requests board members to identify to the best of their knowledge affiliations with organizations that may be potentially related to the financials or other substantive operations of the organization. They are also asked to identify circumstances involving either themselves, or a member of their extended family, that may be construed as a conflict of interest. At the staff level, the organization's personnel also ensure that there are no conflicts of interest when considering the engagement of a new vendor. If a potential conflict is identified, appropriate steps are taken to both assess the nature of the potential conflict and, subsequently, to ensure that the possibility of an actual conflict is mitigated. Such mitigation is managed and the letter and spirit of the conflicts policy are upheld.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

-expanded the program development (pd) program to include monthly themes. -updated school book curriculum to include more diverse and stem literature. -hired new program coordinator- cassandra washington to oversee schools. -staffed each school with site coordinator. -implemented san diego testing to get our own baseline data. -started partnerships with local colleges (john carroll & notre dame college) to help with programing activities and volunteers. -partnered with ginn academy local high school to assist with a "buddy system" for young boys in our program in particular. -added "family engagement" as a 4th component for our program along with literacy, personal development & health & fitness. -continued summer programing partnership with cuyahoga county library system. -partnered with individual schools to help sponsor and underwrite programming. Staff & board: hired new grant writer, reaching out to new foundations and contributors. Hired cassandra washington to oversee school sites and academic program restructured board to remove inactive members and added four new board members with varying backgrounds and expertise. Fundraising events: april, 2017- hosted our most successful draft event raising over 20,000 in funding for additional schools while increasing community involvement. August, 2017- hosted the coach sam's golf outing after two years of inactivity- raising over 40,000 for the programs.
