Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 2

Sam rutigliano kerry rutigliano chair director family

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

Prior to filing, the form 990 is presented to the executive director and finance staff for review and approval. The form 990 is then electronically distributed to the board of directors in advance of filing. A board officer signs the 990 (or 8879-eo) and the 990 is electronically filed.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

Each year, the board members are asked to review the organization's conflict of interest policy. Among other things, the policy makes clear that all decisions of the board, officers, and employees of the organization are made solely on the basis of a desire to promote the best interest of the organization and the public good. The conflict of interest statement requests board members to identify to the best of their knowledge affiliations with organizations that may be potentially related to the financials or other substantive operations of the organization. They are also asked to identify circumstances involving either themselves, or a member of their extended family, that may be construed as a conflict of interest. At the staff level, the organization's personnel also ensure that there are no conflicts of interest when considering the engagement of a new vendor. If a potential conflict is identified, appropriate steps are taken to both assess the nature of the potential conflict and, subsequently, to ensure that the possibility of an actual conflict is mitigated. Such mitigation is managed and the letter and spirit of the conflicts policy are upheld.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 19

The organization's governing documents, form 1023, form 990 conflict of interest policy and financial statements are made available to the public upon request. The form 990, without schedule b, can also be found on several publicly-accessible websites.

We are looking forward to continuing to use this curriculum going forward. -staffed each school with site coordinator. -implemented san diego testing to get our own baseline data. -created our own testing instrument (aiming higher survey) with the assistance of retired belfaire psychologist dr. Amnon shai. -started partnerships with local colleges (john carroll & notre dame college) to help with programing activities and volunteers. -continued to grow "family engagement" as a 4th component by sponsoring familt nights and hosting family events, -continued summer programing partnership with cuyahoga county library system. -partnered with individual schools to help sponsor and underwrite programming. Staff & board: hired new site coordinators, tutors and site staff. Restructured board to remove inactive members and added new board members -michelle ryb -kevin krese fundraising events: april, 2018- hosted our most successful draft event raising over 60,000 in funding for additional schools while increasing community involvement. AS WE HAVE GROWN IN THE PAST FEW YEARS, IT HAS BECOME MORE APPARENT THAT THE SUCCESS OF AIMING HIGHER OFTEN FELL TO THE SUCCESS OF INDIVIDUAL TUTORS TO DEVELOP APPROPRIATE AND MEANINGFUL LESSON PLANS. NICHOLE SHABAZZ HAS DONE INCREDIBLE WORK IN DEVELOPING A CLEAR CURRICULUM APPROPRIATE FOR STUDENTS OF DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS. MANY OF THE EXPERIENCES OF THE CHARACTERS IN THE BOOKS AIMING HIGHER STUDENTS COULD RELATE TO. IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3PRIOR TO FILING, THE FORM 990 IS PRESENTED TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND FINANCE STAFF FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. THE FORM 990 IS THEN ELECTRONICALLY DISTRIBUTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN ADVANCE OF FILING. A BOARD OFFICER SIGNS THE 990 (OR 8879-EO) AND THE 990 IS ELECTRONICALLY FILED.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4EACH YEAR, THE BOARD MEMBERS ARE ASKED TO REVIEW THE ORGANIZATION'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5THE ORGANIZATION'S GOVERNING DOCUMENTS, FORM 1023, FORM 990 CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC UPON REQUEST. THE FORM 990, WITHOUT SCHEDULE B, CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON SEVERAL PUBLICLY-ACCESSIBLE WEBSITES.
