“Sam rutigliano kerry rutigliano chair director family”
“Prior to filing, the form 990 is presented to the executive director and finance staff for review and approval. The form 990 is then electronically distributed to the board of directors in advance of filing. A board officer signs the 990 (or 8879-eo) and the 990 is electronically filed.”
“Each year, the board members are asked to review the organization's conflict of interest policy. Among other things, the policy makes clear that all decisions of the board, officers, and employees of the organization are made solely on the basis of a desire to promote the best interest of the organization and the public good. The conflict of interest statement requests board members to identify to the best of their knowledge affiliations with organizations that may be potentially related to the financials or other substantive operations of the organization. They are also asked to identify circumstances involving either themselves, or a member of their extended family, that may be construed as a conflict of interest. At the staff level, the organization's personnel also ensure that there are no conflicts of interest when considering the engagement of a new vendor. If a potential conflict is identified, appropriate steps are taken to both assess the nature of the potential conflict and, subsequently, to ensure that the possibility of an actual conflict is mitigated. Such mitigation is managed and the letter and spirit of the conflicts policy are upheld.”
“The organization's governing documents, form 1023, form 990 conflict of interest policy and financial statements are made available to the public upon request. The form 990, without schedule b, can also be found on several publicly-accessible websites.”
“Coach sam's inner circle foundation's mission is to provide intensive literacy intervention integrated with health & fitness, and personal development through after-school programming in at-risk communities to develop the whole child.”
“2. Draft day event. The first csicf special event for 2016, our draft day event, was held at the end of april. The turnout was excellent, and the event was both entertaining and inspiring, creating excellent public relations for the organization. The net revenues for the event were over 15,000, a 300% increase over 2015 net revenues. 3. New leadership team. After a three and one-half month interlude in which csicf was effectively treading water, bruce jones, vice president for governmental relations, agreed to serve as president of the board through the end of 2017. Bruce (who had significant leadership experience in his professional career with squire patton boggs) outlined a leadership approach in which the role of the president would be reduced in scope and in which the role and responsibility of other officers would be enhanced. Consistent with that vision: - myra stone became the vice president for academic affairs responsible for overseeing the aiming higher program in the schools. Myra is a recently retired teacher with a professional career spent entirely in the cleveland schools; - brian akers became vice president for governance responsible, among other things, for vetting future board members and officers. Brian is a rising star within keybank with significant management and technology responsibilities; and - kerry rutigliano, daughter of csicf founder coach sam rutigliano, was chosen to be vice president for development. Kerry is also a highly regarded teacher in the mayfield city school district and brings a genetically based passion for the mission of csicf. She also brings a gift for fundraising that resulted in more than 40,000 in new grants and gifts for csicf in 2016. 4. Aiming higher program. The first order of business for the new leadership team was to get the aiming higher program off to a strong start in the fall of 2016. The program was continued in two schools that had historically provided good support for aiming higher (jamison and case), but the program was moved from the wilson school to the almira school on cleveland's west side. Almira has a beautiful new building with excellent facilities. The principal is a committed educator, and the student body is racially and ethnically diverse and works in a solid learning environment. 5. Marketing. With board encouragement, executive director ori akrish made a significant effort to improve csicf communication and marketing effectiveness. Among other things, ori: - created a new and active twitter page (@coachsamicf); - generated monthly newsletters through constant contact (700+ contacts); - increased social media presence by preparing an improved facebook page for csicf; and - worked with ems to create a new, user-friendly and informative website. 6. 2016 annual appeal. In the fourth quarter of 2016, board leadership initiated a strong effort to duplicate or exceed last year's annual appeal success. That began with substantial work to create a first class brochure for general distribution in connection with the campaign. That goal was achieved with the printing and distribution of what we believe to be the best marketing piece that we have ever produced. Ori akrish and kerry rutigliano also created an online gofundme component within the appeal that is off to a good start. With careful planning and division of responsibility among board members, the board has been contacting both traditional contributors and supporters and newly identified possibilities. Although like last year the appeal will continue past the end of the year, we are reasonably confident that we will duplicate last year's results and will substantially exceed them with the support of our premiere funder ems. 7. Major accomplishments for 2016. The two most important accomplishments of csicf for 2016 are: "the organization worked through its second leadership change in the board presidency within a year with a renewed and enhanced leadership team as described in section 5. And a more comm”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | 1. 2015 ANNUAL APPEAL. THE YEAR BEGAN WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE ANNUAL APPEAL STARTED BY BOARD PRESIDENT MARGARET SMITH IN NOVEMBER OF 2015. THE APPEAL WAS A DRAMATIC SUCCESS, QUADRUPLING THE RESULTS OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR (32,000 IN 2015-2016 V. 8,000 IN 2014-2015) AND PROVIDING FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR THE FIRST QUARTER OF AIMING HIGHER OPERATIONS IN 2016. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O 2. ALTHOUGH LIKE LAST YEAR THE APPEAL WILL CONTINUE PAST THE END OF THE YEAR, WE ARE REASONABLY CONFIDENT THAT WE WILL DUPLICATE |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | 2. AND A MORE COMM |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 3 | PRIOR TO FILING, THE FORM 990 IS PRESENTED TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND FINANCE STAFF FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. THE FORM 990 IS THEN ELECTRONICALLY DISTRIBUTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN ADVANCE OF FILING. A BOARD OFFICER SIGNS THE 990 (OR 8879-EO) AND THE 990 IS ELECTRONICALLY FILED. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 4 | EACH YEAR, THE BOARD MEMBERS ARE ASKED TO REVIEW THE ORGANIZATION'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY. SUCH MITIGATION IS MANAGED AND THE LETTER AND SPIRIT OF THE CONFLICTS POLICY ARE UPHELD. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 5 | THE ORGANIZATION'S GOVERNING DOCUMENTS, FORM 1023, FORM 990 CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC UPON REQUEST. THE FORM 990, WITHOUT SCHEDULE B, CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON SEVERAL PUBLICLY-ACCESSIBLE WEBSITES. |
