The organizations 990 is initially prepared and reviewed by staff. A designated board member reviews the tax return prior to filing.

Conflict of interest policy compliance Part VI line 12C

The COI policies extend to board members and all staff. If an employee or director finds that they might be involved in a conflict of interest they promptly makes all facts known to the Executive Director and refrain from any exercise of responsibility in any manner reasonably considered to be affected by such adverse interest. Any possible conflict of interest on the part of any employee or board member are disclosed to the board. When any conflict of interest becomes a matter of board action, such member shall not vote or use personal influence on the matter.

The personnel committee, which is made up of 2 - 3 board members, performs a performance review on the Executive Directors (ED) work and accomplishments and based on their review the organization sets the EDs compensation. Our Board Personnel Committee assesses the performance and compensation of the Executive Director on an annual basis. The committee assess performance against goals and expectations, reviews the relative competitive position within the market and the industry and makes adjustments as they see fit. The last Executive Director review was conducted July 2015. It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to assess performance and compensation relative to market standards for all staff members on an annual basis.

IRS990/Desc0One Stop Support Center: The One Stop Support Center brings wraparound social and health services under one roof, as close to home as possible. Through services provided by both our community partners and Room One staff, the One Stop Support Center offers clients access to: in-person assisters for the Affordable Care Act, Women Infant and Childrens (WIC) nutrition programs, Washington Connections navigators, low-income housing information and applications, full-time domestic violence and health resource advocates, comprehensive family planning services (including plan B distribution and pregnancy testing 5 days per week), case management, support groups, and mental health counseling. While accessing these services, our advocacy-centered model of support ensures that clients will develop a self-determined pathway to well-beinga critical component of effective violence prevention work.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Fire Recovery: After 2014 summers fires, Room One programming temporarily expanded into fire recovery. Related recovery and new fire response activities in 2015 included direct service to survivors through disaster case management and leadership in local and county-wide recovery efforts. Employed by Room One, our three disaster case managers (DCM) help fire survivors access safe housing and recover social and emotional well-being, and ensure county, state and business services are responsive to survivors needs. To date, DCMs have served over 300 individuals. We represent health and social service needs and ensure resources are distributed equitably throughout the county - directing resources to those who are most vulnerable as a result of the disaster. Room One also holds a community fund that provides direct support to survivors and addresses unmet survivor needs through the Unmet Needs Roundtable.

These efforts include developing and leading comprehensive sexuality education and dynamic healthy relationships classes in Methow Valley schools (all classes grades 7 12); offering weekly girls groups in the Jr. and Sr. High School; building the capacity of school districts to develop safe and inclusive school environments; teaching year-long life skills cooking and gardening classes to teens; and educating our community about their important role in recognizing signs of abuse, serving as an ally to those who are isolated or marginalized by their relationship, and connecting friends and neighbors with resources.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0Red Shed Garden: Red Shed Produce provides local, high-quality organic vegetables free to low-income families across the Methow Valley through a one acre farm cultivated by Room One staff and volunteers. Additionally, Red Shed produce distributes fresh food every week to low-income women, children, and families through the Women, Infants and Childrens (WIC) program, the area Food Bank, the School Summer Lunch Program, and the Friday Food Program. In 2014, Red Shed Produce provided over three thousand servings of carrots, lettuce, broccoli, green beans, cabbage, summer squash, and more to local families. Students from the Independent Learning Center teens harvest produce from the Red Shed garden each week in the fall months and take cooking classes at Room One in the winter months (using food harvested earlier in the year). Through the cooking class teens receive a nutritious meal, and learn basic yet essential skills used in preparing a meal on a limited budget.

Our Board Personnel Committee assesses the performance and compensation of the Executive Director on an annual basis. The committee assess performance against goals and expectations, reviews the relative competitive position within the market and the industry and makes adjustments as they see fit. The last Executive Director review was conducted July 2015. It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to assess performance and compensation relative to market standards for all staff members on an annual basis.
