Each group consists of community organizations, agriculturalists, business and government leadership, and faith and volunteer groups. Together, we are working to address issues surrounding land restoration, infrastructure repair and development, economic recovery, and individual and family resilience. To ensure the resources for recovery entrusted to Room One are available to those who need them most, Room One helped spearhead the creation of the Unmet Needs Roundtable. Multiple organizations across our region received funds to support survivors directly; the Roundtable offers a trusted framework through which these funds, including those given to Room One, can be distributed equitably and without duplication. Room One will continue to distribute the remaining funds across 2015. |

Additionally, Red Shed produce distributes fresh food every week to low-income women, children, and families through the Women, Infants and Childrens (WIC) program, the area Food Bank, the School Summer Lunch Program, and the Friday Food Program. In 2014, Red Shed Produce provided over three thousand servings of carrots, lettuce, broccoli, green beans, cabbage, summer squash, and more to local families. Students from the Independent Learning Center teens harvest produce from the Red Shed garden each week in the fall months and take cooking classes at Room One in the winter months (using food harvested earlier in the year). Through the cooking class teens receive a nutritious meal, and learn basic yet essential skills used in preparing a meal on a limited budget. |
