“When joining the board of directors, members are required to sign a "board member agreement" in which they pledge to identify any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from voting on any related decisions. The board president is also responsible for identifying any potential areas of conflict of interest with directors, officers, trustees, etc. And requiring anyone with such a conflict to recuse him/herself from decisions related to the conflict.”
“Salaries for the organization's director and key employees are determined and specifically stated in home resource's annual budget. | IRS990/Desc | 0 | STORE OPERATIONS: REDUCING WASTE, BUILDING A VIBRANT AND SUSTAINABLE LOCAL ECONOMY, CHANNELING MATERIALS TO THOSE IN NEED, PROVIDING MEANINGFUL WORK EXPERIENCES, EDUCATING AND INSPIRING TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY. HOME RESOURCE STORE OPERATIONS CONTINUE TO COLLECT AND SELL USED BUILDING MATERIALS TO REDUCE WASTE, PROVIDE AFFORDABLE MATERIALS, AND KEEP THEM IN THE LOCAL ECONOMY. OVER 45,000 WESTERN MONTANA RESIDENTS ACROSS THE DEMOGRAPHIC SPECTRUM SHOPPED, DONATED, VOLUNTEERED OR PARTICIPATED IN ACTIVITIES IN SUPPORT OF OUR MISSION. OUR STORE OPERATIONS FACILITATED THE REUSE OF 938 TONS OF MATERIAL (ALMOST TWO MILLION POUNDS), ELIMINATING THE TRANSPORTATION AND PRODUCTION-RELATED PHYSICAL DEGRADATION, ENERGY AND POLLUTANTS ASSOCIATED WITH PRODUCING NEW ITEMS, REDUCING LANDFILL-RELATED GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS, PROMOTING A CULTURE OF REUSE AND PROVIDING AFFORDABLE BUILDING MATERIALS TO THE COMMUNITY. IN 2019, MATERIALS DONATED AND SALES WERE JUST SLIGHTLY LESS THAN THE YEAR BEFORE, LIKELY DUE TO SIGNIFICANT DETOURING ROAD CONSTRUCTION, ESPECIALLY DURING OUR BUSIEST MONTHS. IN 2019, HOME RESOURCE EMPLOYED 44 MISSOULIANS, 68% OF OUR INCOME WAS FROM THE SALE OF PUBLICLY DONATED MATERIALS, THE RETAIL STORE HAD 44,598 TRANSACTIONS, 46% OF ALL SALES WERE $5 OR LESS, 60% WERE $10 OR LESS, AND THE AVERAGE SALE AMOUNT WAS $17.64. WE SPENT 96% OF ALL HOME RESOURCE'S EXPENDITURES IN THE LOCAL ECONOMY. HOME RESOURCE DONATED OVER $5,711 WORTH OF CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MATERIALS TO 90 LOCAL NONPROFITS, SCHOOLS AND CHURCHES THROUGH OUR MATERIALS GIVING PROGRAM. |
