“When joining the board of directors, members are required to sign a "board member agreement" in which they pledge to identify any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from voting on any related decisions. The board president is also responsible for identifying any potential areas of conflict of interest with directors, officers, trustees, etc. And requiring anyone with such a conflict to recuse him/herself from decisions related to the conflict.”
“Salaries for the organization's director and key employees are determined and specifically stated in home resource's annual budget. The entire budget, including all salary and wage information, is meticulously reviewed and approved by the board annually in december and january. In general, salaries for the calendar year are approved at this time and remain unchanged until the following year. Any mid-year adjustments must be approved by the board of directors and documented in the minutes.”
“Upon written or verbal request the public may view the 1023, 990, and 990-t, as applicable.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | STORE OPERATIONS: WASTE REDUCTION, BUILDING A VIBRANT AND SUSTAINABLE LOCAL ECONOMY, SUSTAINABLE BUILDING PRACTICES AND CREATIVE REUSE - 2016 WAS A BANNER YEAR FOR HOME RESOURCE COLLECTING AND SELLING USED BUILDING MATERIALS TO REDUCE WASTE, PROVIDE AFFORDABLE MATERIALS, AND KEEP THEM IN THE LOCAL ECONOMY. WESTERN MONTANA RESIDENTS OF ACROSS THE DEMOGRAPHIC SPECTRUM SHOPPED, DONATED AND VOLUNTEERED TO CREATE HOME RESOURCE'S BEST YEAR EVER IN THE AMOUNT OF MATERIALS KEPT OUT OF THE LANDFILL AND NUMBER OF PEOPLE EMPLOYED AND GROSS REVENUE. THE HOME RESOURCE RETAIL STORE AVERAGED 126 TRANSACTIONS A DAY AND 46% OF ALL SALES WERE $5.00 OR LESS. OUR STORE OPERATIONS FACILITATED THE REUSE OF OVER A MILLION POUNDS OF MATERIAL, ELIMINATING THE TRANSPORTATION AND PRODUCTION-RELATED PHYSICAL DEGRADATION, ENERGY AND POLLUTANTS ASSOCIATED WITH PRODUCING NEW ITEMS, REDUCING LANDFILL-RELATED GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS, PROMOTING A CULTURE OF REUSE AND PROVIDING AFFORDABLE BUILDING MATERIALS TO THE COMMUNITY. 96% OF HOME RESOURCE'S TOTAL EXPENSES WERE SPENT IN THE LOCAL ECONOMY. |
