“The hrc board of directors meets regularly throughout the year. Any potential conflicts of interest are discussed in these meetings and documented in board meeting minutes. Board members sign a board member expectation agreement annually that reinforces the commitment to provide open and direct disclosure of any conflicts of interest and excuse oneself from discussions and votes that are a conflict of interest or perceived conflict.”

“Line 4a-program service accomplishments -preservation projects: historic routt county (hrc) facilitates collaborative projects to preserve and restore the built environment and to interpret significant historic resources. Hrc assists willing property owners to rehabilitate, stabilize, or restore their historic properties by offering technical assistance, writing and managing grants or by providing other services as needed. In 2024, hrc consulted with public and private property owners in hayden, oak creek and steamboat springs. Hrc continued its work with the us forest service on a multiyear stewardship and documentation contract that began in 2022. In 2024, hrc documented arborglyphs on forest service land, maintained visitor logs for the hahns peak fire lookout, and began planning 2025 rehabilitation efforts. Historic designation and documentation:hrc works with willing property owners to document or nominate their properties to the steamboat springs, routt county, colorado, or national historic registers. This is hrcs most far-reaching and impactful program. Since the late 1990s, hrc has helped over 105 individual owners successfully list their property to a historic register. Three hisstoric sites were added to the local historic registers in 2024. -outreach and education: hrc received a generous grant to update and enhance its website in 2023. This update was completed in 2024. In july, hrc board members staffed an information table at the local farmers market in downtown steamboat springs. Hrc regularly collaborates with local and regional governments to provide resources and guidance on preservation issues, writes articles and gives presentations on cultural landscapes, regional planning policies and historic properties for the local media, and publishes a quarterly e-newsletter for the public. Hrc worked closely with the town of yampa during the update to its development code and design guidelines to ensure that there were policies to protect historic buildings and community character. In 2024, hrc collaborated with its preservation colleagues to hold a successful barn dance fundraiser in hayden to celbrate and support the preservation efforts of the hayden granary and hayden heritage center. For over 11 years hrc has partnered annually with the steamboat art museum to honor a painting that depicts a local historic resource with a cash award. Hrc collaborated with its local preservation partners to promote may as preservation month with a banner over steamboat springs main street. At the annual meeting, historic routt county presents a commemorative bronze plaque to every owner of a property added to the routt county historic register in the previous 12 months.”
