FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4D, PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS CONTINUED:

D. Operations, technology and capital campaign 1. Open hand worked with moeller purcell construction company on the renovation of the property open hand purchased in december 2021 located at 1380 west marietta street, atlanta, ga to create a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen and meal distribution center. The 43,000 square foot facility includes 30,000 square feet for meal production, meal packaging, meal picking and warehouse uses that incorporates a 9,000 square foot kitchen, 5,000 square feet of cooler storage, 4,700 square feet of freezer storage, 4,500 square feet of dry storage, a 1,320 square foot refrigerated meal picking room, and a 2,400 square foot meal packing room allowing meals to remain under controlled temperatures during meal packaging and routing. The large 3,600 square foot freezer for finished goods has a 500,000 meal capacity. The facility also includes a long loading dock with 5 overhead doors as well as an elevated section of loading dock space which serves our fleet of 13 refrigerated delivery vehicles. Two blast chillers are located within the kitchen facility to safely chill and freeze meals in accordance with national sanitation foundation standards, with a total capacity of 1,600 pounds of prepared food. 2. The new campus also includes the following technology integrated features: a. Access control system (key fobs and cards) for all staff and limited access to operational areas of the facility b. Scheduled locking and unlocking of entrance gates and building entrances c. Security camera system with 52 cameras across production, visitor, and outside areas of the facility and up to 4 months of video recording d. 10 information messaging tvs throughout the visitor and operational areas with human resources, volunteer, and operational information and security camera feeds e. Ubiquiti (an information technology supplier) wired and wireless network hardware providing wireless access in all areas including coolers, freezers, and the surrounding parking lot, loading dock, and patio areas f. Deployment of a new sonicwall firewall g. Server room uninterrupted power supply (ups) providing up to 25 minutes of backup power for internet connectivity hardware and all wireless hardware, cameras, and servers h. Sharp audio/video hardware and microsoft teams software including 65" 85" tv monitors, ceiling microphone, front and rear facing cameras, and wall and ceiling-mounted speakers in 4 conference/training rooms 3. Moved all staff and equipment from 181 armour drive to 1380 west marietta street in late july of 2024 with no interruption in service to open hand clients. 4. Implemented a teaching kitchen for client and patient classes to learn cooking skills and nutrition education. Trained staff on the kitchen's operations and hosted virtual and in-person classes in the fall of 2024. 5. Hired 2 new staff members to design and oversee the new workforce development program to be launched in january 2025. Developed a framework and secured community partnerships for the new workforce development program. 6. Cybersecurity risk assessment and vulnerability scans completed and reviewed by two outside agencies. 7. Continued development and testing of cares, open hand's new client and meal order management portal. 8. Began development and configuration of an enterprise resource planning (erp) system to be fully launched in 2025. When fully implemented the erp system should provide: -quicker financial reporting capabilities -seamless client/center order fulfillment -inventory tracking improvements -enhanced food safety traceability

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, the organization is exempt from taxes on income other than unrelated business income. During the years ended december 31, 2024 and 2023, the organization did not have any unrelated business income. The organization utilizes the accounting requirements associated with uncertainty in income taxes using the provisions of financial accounting standards board (fasb) asc 740, income taxes. Using that guidance, tax positions initially need to be recognized in the consolidated financial statements when it is more-likely-than-not the positions will be sustained upon examination by the tax authorities. It also provides guidance for derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, disclosure and transition. As of december 31, 2024 and 2023, the organization has no uncertain tax positions that qualify for recognition or disclosure in the consolidated financial statements.

THE SUPPLEMENTS HELP TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE NUTRITION TO CLIENTS WHO MAY BE EXPERIENCING POOR APPETITE, WEIGHT LOSS, OR CHEWING/SWALLOWING CHALLENGES.E. CENTRAL TO OPEN HAND'S COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO NUTRITION, CLIENTS ARE ASSESSED DURING THE INTAKE PROCESS AND OFFERED NUTRITION EDUCATION BY OPEN HAND RDNS, WHICH INCLUDES EVIDENCE-BASED EDUCATION IN A GROUP SETTING. IN 2024, WE PROVIDED DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION WORKSHOPS FOR A TOTAL OF 40 CLIENTS. THESE PROGRAMS TEACH INDIVIDUALS THE TOOLS NEEDED TO BECOME EFFECTIVE SELF-MANAGERS OF THEIR HEALTH. OPEN HAND PROVIDED MEDICAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPY (MNT) TO 374 CLIENTS IN 2024, THROUGH BOTH IN-PERSON CARE AND OUR VIRTUAL PLATFORM, HEALTHIE. MNT IS PRESCRIBED BY A PHYSICIAN TO TARGET SPECIFIC MEDICAL CONDITIONS. SESSIONS INCLUDE A NUTRITION DIAGNOSIS, THERAPY, AND COUNSELING SERVICES - ALL PERFORMED BY OPEN HAND RDNS.
