“Because of the covid-19 pandemic, the academy for educational studies was only able to host one academic conference in 2020 - in seattle, washington, just days before the virus was discovered, in seattle. The seattle conference focused on three topics: challenging our staid understandings of teaching, seeing schools in context, and possible "letters to teachers" we would think appropriate and challenging. About 225 people attended the conference. The critical questions in education symposium, scheduled for october 2020, was rescheduled for october 2021. The academy continued its relationship with myers education press, arranging the publication of one more book: john dewey's imaginative vision of teaching. We intended to distribute books at the fall gathering in cleveland, free of charge, to those attending the conference. This will have to wait until our fall 2021 gathering. The academy continues to publish scholarly articles in its blind peer-reviewed open-access online journal, critical questions in education.”
