Management has concluded that any tax positions that would not meet the more-likely-than-not criterion of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) Topic 740-10, Accounting for Income Taxes, would be immaterial to the financial statements taken as a whole. Accordingly, the accompanying financial statements do not include any provision for uncertain tax positions, and no related interest or penalties have been recorded in the operating statement or accrued in the statement of financial position. Federal and state tax returns of the Foundation are generally open to examination by the relevant taxing authorities for a period of three years from the date the returns are filed.

IRS990/Desc0"I ALWAYS HEARD I SHOULD GO TO COLLEGE, BUT DON'T KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE GONE. NOW I KNOW WHAT COLLEGE IS AND HOW TO GET THERE. IF IT WASN'T FOR ROADMAP TO SUCCESS, I WOULDN'T KNOW THAT I HAVE A CHANCE." THESE WORDS, SPOKEN BY AN 8TH GRADE STUDENT, ARTICULATE THE SHIFT IN TRAJECTORY MADE POSSIBLE BY THE ROADMAP TO SUCCESS PROGRAM. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT STUDENTS WHO PLAN EARLY FOR COLLEGE ARE MORE LIKELY TO ATTEND THAN THOSE WHO DO NOT. HOWEVER, WE KNOW THAT DALLAS STUDENTS ARE NOT RECEIVING INFORMATION REGARDING THE ROUTE TO POST-SECONDARY SUCCESS. THOUGH DALLAS COUNTY HAS AN 84% GRADUATION RATE, ONLY 14% OF GRADUATES ARE DEEMED "COLLEGE-READY." (THE COMMIT! PARTNERSHIP) RESEARCH INDICATES THAT USING THE APPROPRIATE RESOURCES, COLLEGE READINESS PLANNING SHOULD BEGIN IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, FOCUSING ON THE MIDDLE TO HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION AND INCREASING COLLEGE EXPECTATIONS (RODERICK, 2009). THROUGH THE ROADMAP TO SUCCESS PROGRAM, EOD UNIQUELY ADDRESSES THE NEED TO TEACH COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE AND CAREER SKILLS TO MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE ROADMAP TO SUCCESS PROGRAM IS A DATA-DRIVEN PROGRAM THAT IS IMPLEMENTED IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS ACROSS DALLAS COUNTY. IT UTILIZES A TRAIN-THE-TRAINER MODEL TO ENABLE TEACHERS TO EFFECTIVELY INCREASE EXPECTATIONS, MOTIVATION, AND COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES: AN INTERACTIVE STUDENT MANUAL COMPOSED OF GROUP OR SELF-GUIDED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES, AN ALIGNED CURRICULUM, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS, CONTINUED WEEKLY OR BI-WEEKLY IN-SCHOOL SUPPORT PROVIDED BY EOD'S IMPACT MANAGERS TO ENSURE PROGRAM FIDELITY, AND OUTCOMES-BASED DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS. EOD ALSO PROVIDES AN ONLINE TEACHER PORTAL THAT ALLOWS TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS TO ACCESS PROGRAM RESOURCES, SUCH AS LESSON PLANS, POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS, AND OTHER SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS AS WELL AS ENGAGE IN DISCUSSION WITH OTHER EDUCATORS IMPLEMENTING THE PROGRAM ACROSS ALL SITES.THE CORNERSTONE OF THE ROADMAP TO SUCCESS PROGRAM IS THE STUDENT MANUAL, WHICH ENABLES STUDENTS TO GAIN THE CONFIDENCE AND SKILLS TO NAVIGATE THE COLLEGE-GOING PROCESS BEGINNING IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. IN AN ENGAGING FORMAT, THE 226-PAGE MANUAL ADDRESSES NON-ACADEMIC BARRIERS TO BOTH HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION AND COLLEGE ENROLLMENT BY EXPLAINING THE IMPACT OF THEIR GPA, COURSE SELECTION, AND SAT/ACT SCORES ON THEIR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS AND POST-SECONDARY SUCCESS. IT OFFERS TEMPLATES AND ACTIVITIES FOR TOPICS SUCH AS INTERVIEWING, CREATING A RESUME, EVALUATING COLLEGES, CHOOSING A MAJOR, UNDERSTANDING THE VALUE OF SERVICE, AND APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID - ALL OF WHICH ARE NOT TRADITIONALLY TAUGHT IN SCHOOL.EDUCATION OPENS DOORS IMPLEMENTS THE ROADMAP TO SUCCESS PROGRAM BY PARTNERING WITH SCHOOLS AND OTHER PROGRAMS. AFTER A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT WITH THE ORGANIZATION, PARTNERS ARE CHARGED A REDUCED COST PER STUDENT ENROLLED IN THE ONE-YEAR PROGRAM. FOR THIS COST, SCHOOLS RECEIVE THE SELF-GUIDED STUDENT MANUALS AND ALIGNED IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT, INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, ONSITE VISITS, CURRICULUM ACCESS THROUGH AN ONLINE PORTAL, AND DATA ANALYSIS. THIS MODEL IS USED BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT A SCHOOL'S SKIN IN THE GAME, WHILE THE TRUE COST TO EDUCATION OPENS DOORS IS SUBSIDIZED BY FUNDRAISING, IS CRITICAL TO OUR MODEL'S SUCCESS. ADDITIONAL INCOME FOR EDUCATION OPENS DOORS IS GENERATED FROM GENEROUS PRIVATE DONORS AND GRANTS FROM LOCAL PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS THAT ARE INVESTED IN EDUCATION REFORM. Over the 20152016 school year, EOD expanded the implementation of the Roadmap to Success Program to 32 sites across Dallas County. We partnered with 202 teachers and empowered 5,234 students. 5,945 manuals were sold during the year ended June 30, 2016. After analysis of collegeknowledge growth for the school year, our students averaged a 47% growth in content mastery across all grade levels. Overall analysis of program implementation has confirmed significant student growth across other areas as well. 16% (323 students) of students improved from a

WE ACHIEVE OUR MISSION THROUGH THE ROADMAP TO SUCCESS PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH THE COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE AND SOFT SKILLS THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE POST-SECONDARY SUCCESS.EOD addresses the nonacademic barriers that students face on their path to post-secondary success through each facet of the Roadmap to Success Program. We provide a researchdriven student manual, aligned curriculum, customized in-classroom teacher support, and data analysis. We collaborate with schools and organizations, collectively impacting students, to increase their college expectations and attainability. We aim to empower students, teachers, and parents to cultivate a collegegoing culture our region. We serve schools across Texas, and our efforts are concentrated on public, charter, and select private schools primarily serving lowincome students.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Management has concluded that any tax positions that would not meet the more-likely-than-not criterion of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) Topic 740-10, Accounting for Income Taxes, would be immaterial to the financial statements taken as a whole.
