“Critical analyses of u.s./middle east policy towards conflict de-escalation and resolution in the region the u.s./middle east project (usmep) arranged numerous in-person briefings and brain-storming sessions throughout the year for its board members and senior advisors as well as other relevant stakeholders including by leading government officials and middle east experts from various institutions in the u.s. On december 7, 2018, the usmep hosted a luncheon briefing with danny seidemann, an israeli lawyer who specializes in legal and public issues in east jerusalem, at the century association in new york city. On january 4, 2018, the usmep hosted a private briefing and discussion in london with former head of the palestinian mission in washington d.c., husam zomlot. “Workshop convening a workshop was convened over two days in october of 2018 at stoke park in the uk, entitled "moving beyond existing paradigms on israel/palestine." the workshop brought together a group of international experts, researchers and practitioners along with israelis and palestinians who are amenable to rethinking the current trajectory. The workshop was led and facilitated by andre zaaiman, who currently teaches and trains south african, african and un personnel in strategic and early warning intelligence analysis and complexity as the research director of the african center for security and intelligence studies (acsip). Zaaiman is the founder of the institute for democratic alternatives in south africa (idasa). The primary aim of the workshop was to analyze a cluster of values and work towards developing a values charter that could create a consensus-based starting point for thinking afresh about the israeli/palestinian future. A number of follow-up meetings were conducted independently amongst israelis and palestinians.”
