Major Activities

Activity 2
The product development group: remains strongly committed to delivering on the four pillars that support the code council brand: quality, innovation, partnership and strength. During 2011 members witnessed the release of many 2012 i-code based support publications as well as many co-branded and partnered publications with major publishers. Published 4 volumes of 2012 significant changes publications shortly after the 2012 codes were published; published most of the volumes in the 2012 study companion series, implemented an online quiz feature for all 2012 study companions; worked on many 2012 based support publications. Started work on developing ipad apps, the first to come out very soon is on the 2009 ibc moe. Staff in pd participated and helped with writing portions of the 2012 commentaries. Several new publication titles were published, started a program to build short promotional videos for youtube based on our technical publications.
Activity 3
Technical services: consists of code and standards development and architectural and engineering services. The technical services professional employees are responsible for the development, maintenance and support of the entire family of international codes, standards and corresponding code commentaries, the development of new codes as directed by the board, as well as related technical support services, including code opinions, committee interpretations, plan reviews, technical consulting, building department audits, and contracts with federal, state and local governments.the 2011 code development process for the igcc and ispsc which provided for membership review and approval of code changes resulting in the first edition (2012) of these two new codes. The establishment of 3 new code action committees and the corresponding meeting activities which resulted in the development and submittal of code changes to their respective codes. The continued transition from the 2 cycles of code development between code editions to a single cycle.key successes:-achieving all code development milestones with the new compressed schedule-developing 2 new codes (igcc and ispsc) in 3 years.-five meetings with the health care committee to develop comprehensive code change proposals for the 2015 editions.-implementation of the 4 new code action committees with changes submitted for the group -a cycle and in process for the group b cycle.-multiple meetings of the ctc in response to board mandated agenda items.-seventy thousand plus code opinions in timely manner with reduced staff -support other department's needs; gr, training, pmg, communications and publications.-respond to media inquiries.-implementation of the new codes and standards council.-completed implementation of cdahrc recommendations.-implementing remote voting through cdp access steering committee.

WITH THE RELEASE OF THE 2012 I-CODES, MUCH OF THE WORK OF THIS DEPARTMENT IN 2011 HAS BEEN FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING COURSES IN SUPPORT OF THE NEW CODE.
