ORGANIZATION'S MISSION AND MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES

Part III, Line 1 Briefly describe the organizations mission: The mission of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is to improve the health of area residents. This is the focal point that steers strategy and decision making and gives meaning and focus to staff as they go about their daily work. As long as our actions and activities are focused on improving the health of area residents, we know that we are doing whats right for our community. We carry out our mission every day by serving the hundreds of patients who walk through our doors for inpatient care, outpatient testing, emergency care, surgery and rehabilitation services. There are so many other ways we carry out our mission daily beyond traditional hospital services, including our free patient transportation service, free exercise classes for seniors, financial assistance program, education and training for pre-hospital providers, student mentoring experiences, student career exploration, free health screenings, support groups and education programs. Theres also the behind-the-scenes support that we provide for community social service agencies, including preparing daily meals for clients of Mobile Meals, providing clean linens and meals for the local PADS, meals for St. Vincent Table, and monetary support for the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic and We Care of Grundy County. Part III, Line 4 Describe the organizations program service accomplishments: The mission of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is to improve the health of area residents. This is the focal point that steers strategy and decision making and gives meaning and focus to staff as they go about their daily work. As long as our actions and activities are focused on improving the health of area residents, we know that we are doing whats right for our community. Delivering quality patient care remains the highest priority at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, as event by a number of significant accomplishments in 2017. Morris Hospitals accreditation was renewed from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program in early 2017. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation department received its first accreditation from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Additionally, the Morris Hospital Diabetes Education Center renewed status as an accredited diabetes education program from the American Association of Diabetes Educators, and Morris Hospitals primary stroke certification was renewed by the Health Facilities Accreditation Program. In order to assure continued quality care for inpatients, Morris Hospital expanded its Hospitalist program from two full-time hospitalists to four. The hospital invested $950,000 in patient safety by installing a new Hill Rom call system that alerts staff if a patient at risk for falling gets out of bed, tracks the location of staff on the unit, and allows staff to call for help by pressing a button on their badge. Additional initiatives that further enhance patient safety and efficiencies included the launch of a new admission order process that allows physicians to sign admission orders electronically, along with inpatient eprescribing. As a result of the creation of a Nursing Sepsis Review team, an emergency room nurse, ICU nurse, staff nurse and house supervisor now huddle at the patient bedside if a patient starts to turn septic or has early warning signs of sepsis. In the area of service, Morris Hospital replaced its 12 year old radiation therapy planning and treatment system with a $2.6 million TrueBeam linear accelerator, providing the community with the most advanced cancer treatment system. The hospital added outpatient behavioral health services at its Braidwood Healthcare Center with the addition of a licensed clinical social worker. The LCSW serves patients who dont have commercial insurance, as there is no other area mental health provider to serve this population. A joint special board meeting of the morris hospital, morris hospital foundation and morris hospital auxiliary boards was held to provide a formal presentation of the final 990's of each respective organization prior to the filing.
