The Public Policy Lab is a nonprofit innovation lab. Our mission is to design policies and programs that help poor and marginalized Americans build better lives. To do that, we partner with government agencies, philanthropies, and NGOs and the communities they serve to develop more satisfying and effective services through ethnographic research, human-centered design, rapid prototyping, and formative evaluation.
The public policy lab helps americans build better lives by improving the design and delivery of public services.

| In 2014, the Public Policy Lab completed its impact assessment on pilots related to Designing Services for Housing, the organization's partnership with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development and Parsons The New School for Design. PPL released Evaluating New Services for Housing, a comprehensive report on the evaluation process and the outcomes of the program.PPL also completed work on Phase 2 of its Chancellor's Challenge project with the New York City Department of Education, looking at the provision of transportation services to children with disabilities. The PPL's design and research team designed three new services and prototyped new tools for those services, in collaboration with families and service providers.In late 2014, PPL launched a new collaboration with the Metro Government of Louisville, Kentucky, exploring the intersection of jail overcrowding and heroin addiction. Work on that project will be carried out in 2015.In addition to the program activities above, PPL also provided strategic assistance to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Center for Innovation, related to the onboarding process for veterans' services, and to the Bloomberg Philanthropies, in association with their Innovation Delivery Teams program. | $149,848 | - |
