“In 2021, creating the future laid groundwork in critical mission areas. This has allowed the organization to focus on program development and proof of concept vs spending all our time raising money. In future years, as the organization scales to accomplish its mission (and must seek funds to do so), full time salaries and additional staff will be added as funds are generated.”

“Experimenting: applying catalytic thinking to systems change: in 2021, we continued to do demonstration projects, applying catalytic thinking to systems change at 2 different universities, at a large regional food bank, and to the internal systems of board recruitment, resource development, and succession planning at creating the future. We continued research into systems within the social change ecosystem that keep organizations from accomplishing more change, and worked with community-centric fundraising to publish some of the findings from that research. Sharing what we learn about catalytic thinking and systems change: taught catalytic thinking at 2 universities; in conferences; in classes and workshops; in practice cohorts and work teams; in our ejournals; in our online consultants community.
