“In 2022, creating the future laid groundwork in critical mission areas. For a full description of these accomplishments (in a more readable form) head to - https://creatingthefuture.org/accomplishments-2022/ during our formative years, the founders have chosen to self fund the organization, receiving only small stipends for their more than full time work. This has allowed the organization to focus on program development and proof of concept vs spending all our time raising money. In future years, as the organization scales to accomplish its mission (and must seek funds to do so), full time salaries and additional staff will be added as funds are generated.”

“Experimenting: applying catalytic thinking to systems change: in 2022, our demonstration projects were the result of our succession planning discussions in 2021, as well as the findings of our research re: the need for systems change within social change organizations - findings that were documented by nonprofit quarterly early in the year. The result in 2022 was a massive experiment in democratizing organizational decisions-making, facilitating our community to decide what's next for our work. Sharing what we learn about catalytic thinking and systems change: our "what's next" community discussions centered on ways to share what we've learned as effectively as possible. In addition to online classes and webinars, we hosted a practice cohort applying catalytic thinking to the design of our community engagement efforts. In addition, because our board meetings are open for anyone to watch and/or participate in, those meetings are one more way we share catalytic thinking in practice.
