Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Play conservatory provides unique and challenging theater projects for youth. Summer stock is play conservatory's major project, an annual camp offering 11 weeks of intensive training in all aspects of theater for students ages 7 to 18. It produces three plays, aligned with a common theme, that perform at three different venues over six consecutive weekends, for a total of 19 performances. It's a rigorous challenge, modeled after the way professional theater companies produce summer stock. Students may participate in one, two, or all three plays. In 2013, 76 students, interns, and apprentices, 30 teaching artists and staff, and 3,485 audience members participated in summer stock; the plays were: "beauty and the beast", "wiley and the hairy man", and "shrek the musical." in addition to summer stock, two other projects were offered: an original drama "escape from titanic" played for one performance in april, and the musical comedy/fantasy "captain louie jr." played for four performances in october. Play conservatory offers free seats (limited) for children at every performance. In 2013, 566 complementary tickets were given away (a value of 5,660)
